How can it be advertised at 90,000 lumens when the maximum output of the xhp 50.2 diode according to Cree is 2600 lumens???

It's beyond misleading. The absolute maximum could be 2,000 lumen but I doubt it'd be more than 1,200. Please encourage Amazon to remove this advertising. Amazon is better than that.

Why does it reported 90k lumens when it is only 500 lumens?

I'm not sure, but I had the same experience and returned it. I would have kept it if it was half of what it was advertised as, but it wasn't even close.

Why does it say battery powered if it's rechargeable? I don't need a rechargeable flashlight that I'd need when there's no electricity!

The battery is sealed inside the flashlight, so you can't remove/replace it with a new one. So it goes to reason that it has to be rechargeable. My suggestions is to keep it charged so when the power goes out, the flashlight will have a full charge and last longer. It is described as 90,000 lumen, but it doesn't even come close. Spend the extra cash and get a Fenix TK 16. It's plenty bright. You can remove/replace the battery. And keep two or three batteries charged at all time.

What size battery? 21700, 20700, or 18650? Or is it something proprietary?

Hello friend, this LED Fashlight comes with 26650 battery, which capacity is 3200mah. Also it could fit for 18650 and AA Batteries with just one plastic tube protected. Wish my answer offers some help! Denise
