Review Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Daily Studio Companion I spend much of my day in a studio working on various video and photography projects, and let me tell you, good lighting can make or break your work. That's why I bought not just one but four ULANZI VL49 RGB Video Lights. They've become indispensable in my daily routine. The Bright Side These lights are as bright as you'd hope for and even more. Whether I'm shooting a product or setting the mood for a video tutorial, these lights deliver spectacularly. The full range of colors adds that extra pop, elevating the quality of my work effortlessly. Versatility in the Studio One of the best aspects of these lights is their versatility. With the 360° Full Color options and magnetic mount, I can place them just about anywhere. Plus, they have 3 cold shoe mounts, which means I can stack 'em up or connect them to other accessories as needed. A Not-So-Dark Side If I have to point out a downside, it's that the battery charge is somewhat short-lived. That said, it's not a major concern for me. A quick recharge and they're good to go. Besides, the performance more than makes up for it. Go For It! Having used these lights daily for months now, I can safely say they're a solid investment. They might not run forever on a single charge, but their brightness and adaptability easily make up for it. Trust me, you won't regret getting these ULANZI VL49 RGB Video Lights for your studio.

I’m using this light since March so I can give my opinion now. I loved this light, I use for videos illumination, it’s very bright and strong very light weight and easy to carry with you everywhere. Woks very well, the battery last long, I charged this light 4 times since I bought it. This light has different types of colors starting in white light cold color and the yellow light warm color, with different levels of intensity, I use it on the 6 or 8 maximum for me it’s enough for a good Visio illumination recording myself as blog video. The different colors also have different levels of intensity and another color and option it has and they didn’t describe, it has the red and blue colors with the effects like police’s car. Woks very well for every you need, every special light effect you wanna great for your videos, pictures, lives, environment. I really got very surprised with this small thing light, way better then the most expensive big lights you see around. It’s small but powerful and changes very fast.

I've been using the ULANZI VL49 RGB mini LED light on a few music video shoots, some quick interviews, and even for my own studio self-shots, and it's honestly been a great little tool. It's super compact (pocket-friendly), mounts easily on the camera hot shoe or magnetically sticks to metal surfaces, and the full RGB + adjustable CCT (2500K-9000K) lets you dial in whatever mood or fill you need—warm for skin tones, cool for dramatic looks, or straight-up colorful accents for music vids. On the shoots, it provided nice, even fill without being harsh, and the CRI 95+ kept colors looking natural (no weird tinting on skin or outfits). Brightness is surprisingly punchy for its size (up to 800 lux close-up), dimmable from 0-100%, and the battery lasts decently (a couple hours at higher levels, way longer dimmed). The LCD makes adjustments quickly—no fumbling in the dark. One crew member even laughed and said, "That's gotta be an expensive light, right?" when they saw the output—haha, nope, budget king! Pros: Tiny and portable—throw it in the bag for run-and-gun shoots Full 360° RGB + wide temp range for creative lighting (great for music videos or adding pop to interviews) Solid build for the price; magnetic back + cold shoe mounts are handy Rechargeable (USB-C, 2000mAh), bright enough for close/medium work, and color quality punches above its weight Made people think it was high-end—always a win Cons: It's mini, so not replacing big lights for large sets or far throw—best for close-up fill, accents, or small setups Plastic feel, but it holds up fine—no complaints after multiple uses RGB mode is fun but more saturated/intense up close (great for effects, less subtle for some natural looks) Overall, it's good—reliable, versatile, and way more capable than it looks. Perfect for creators on a budget who need something portable for shoots like music videos, interviews, or studio self-work. Still grab it regularly. Solid 4.5/5—surprised a few people with how pro it looks in action!

For what it is, and what it costs, this is a great little light. It is good for general illumination of simple and non-critical webcam or smartphone shots from a few feet away (probably about 4 feet max). It is not a professional studio light, but that should be obvious given it's size and price. It's a utility light. PROS: (1) It appears fairly well built. Exactly what you would expect in this price range. (2) It is very handy to use. (3) The battery appears to last a long time. I don't know this for sure, but judging by the battery level indicator on it things look good so far. For example, I used the fully charged unit for about 30 minutes on 80% output power and the charge indicator still read 100% after that. What I don't know is if you can trust that charge indicator - is it linear and a true representation of battery usage? Unknown at this time given my limited usage. CONS: (1) The magnet is handy for attaching to things, but if you attach it to a slippery surface (no texture) then the light will sometimes start slipping down under it's own weight. I plan to attach a piece of "hockey stick tape" to the back of the unit to provide more friction so it doesn't slip. Most surfaces I have tested its magnetic hold on have been good however, it's just a few where it may slip. (2) The control buttons on the back are very low profile, but they do stick out by about 1/2 millimeter. While this is not much, it is enough so that when you're attaching it to something with its magnet, or adjusting its position, those buttons sometimes get pushed accidentally. So settings can be changed when not intended. (3) The range of light temperatures (2500⁰K to 9000⁰K) and the accuracy of the displayed value of those color temperatures is pretty bad. My light actually ranged from 3400⁰K to 6900⁰K. Which indeed is perfectly fine for 99% of most uses, but it is not anywhere near what the light's documentation claims. If you are planning on matching the color temperature of this light to other lights you may have, you can't trust it's display. You will need to test separately and come up with an adjustment chart. But if you're in the market for lights where you can match color temperatures, you should probably be looking at higher end offerings than this light. It's fine for simple lighting needs but as I said, it's not a professional light. I would recommend this light - for the uses it was designed for. It will not replace a $1000 studio light. But it was never intended to. Here are the target color temps, and the VL49 settings to hit those target temps, for my light: Target 3400K - Set VL49 to 2500K Target 4000K - Set VL49 to 2930K Target 4500K - Set VL49 to 3450K Target 5000K - Set VL49 to 4000K Target 5600K - Set VL49 to 5010K Target 6000K - Set VL49 to 6000K (this is the single accurate setting on the VL49) Target 6500K - Set VL49 to 7770K Target 6900K - Set VL49 to 9000K YMMV, and probably will. Note that I tested the accuracy of color temps using an app on my smartphone. That app, and the quality of the camera on my smartphone, may not be all that accurate themselves. So keep this in mind - I am only demonstrating a relative variation of VL49 color temps as a single point of reference. Any inaccuracies in VL49 color temp were easily overcome (informally) by setting my webcam to "auto white balance" instead of setting it to a specific target color temperature. The results were pleasing, but my specific webcam does have a good "auto white balance" capability.

These lights are compact but mighty! I love that I can change the colors and brightness to set the right mood for different videos. They are incredibly portable and essential for any creator's kit.

Love it. I meant to use it for variable alternate light source on a microscope, but i've decided to mount it on my dslr instead. Amazing price, i've even used it for different light therapy frequencies.. i'd simply say, if you want a fully adjustable lamp for your camera, an alternate spectrum light source and or light therapy... it's a crazy value. I can't decide whether to get more or not, but i probably will get one more at some point. It also has some emergency flashing effects and a "party" mode or two , so it's incredibly versatile. You can chain them together essentially infinitely since they have 3 hot shoe mounts on each unit as well. Or use those mounts for mics, other acessories etc. Hope this helps!

Definitely a small little light but very very bright for its size. I love all the colors and brightness. Also I love that it's a magnet.

Amazing light! I am a photographer and this light has been perfect for headshots , etc. I have already used it several times and the charge lasts for a while, even while staying bright. Definitely a great budget light too

Can be used as a back light or main light for shooting videos. Even used for on a building site. Many uses for this little(but powerful) light.

Cool little light. Being able to change the colour to a specific degree so that you can replicate it again for future projects is a very nice feature. Easy to use, magnetic and tripod mountable makes this little light and awesome prop to enhance your projects. The battery also lasts a decent amount of time. Great for small product photography as well. For the money, it's a great buy.
