Review: Miracles - for me at least - I’ve written a similar “glowy” review for Earplanes, but Alpine are even better for me! The rest of this is super long, detailing my contrasting experience with each. Lots of you won’t care, be warned, and don’t be mad at me if you choose to read it all 😂 Bottom line: both work. Alpines are better. Context: I’m pretty well-traveled within the US, but only moderately so via air travel since I drive within 12 hours or so. I probably fly somewhere every 1-2 years. About a decade ago, when I began flying more frequently, I realized I was having excruciating ear pain. My left ear is always worse. Is my pain tolerance the highest out there? Unlikely. Nonetheless, there were a few flights where the pain was so bad, I thought my eardrum burst. Wiped my ear to check for blood. Crying while sitting next to a poor stranger. The pain would eventually reduce but hearing loss would last for over a week. I LOVE traveling, so I scoured the internet and discovered Earplanes first. I used them for a few years, including a trip from Boston to San Francisco to Hawaii and back - a vacation literal years in the making. They reduced my pain and hearing loss by probably 85%. I was SO happy, I remember crying from joy because the getaway we needed wouldn’t be marred by so much discomfort. Unfortunately Earplanes were single use only and very uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. Their instructions recommended leaving them in for entire flights, but I couldn’t tolerate them for 6 hours at a time. This meant breaking that seal and rendered them less effective when I put them back in a solid hour before landing. They were painful to me, but much better than nothing!!! On a recent Boston to Phoenix trip, I was restocking my Earplanes supply and tried out this brand as well. They’re it for me. Game changer. Super comfortable. So soft. Easy to take out and put back in, and made to do so. (That’s my husbands favorite part so he doesn’t look as controlling when ordering for me from flight attendants because I can’t hear ANYTHING with Earplanes. He uses to get suspicious looks 😂). These did a more effective job of balancing pressure for pain and hearing loss reduction for me. And they’re reusable!!! Huge money saver and a perk for someone kind of crunchy, like myself. They’re going to live in my airplane kit, and I may legitimately buy a backup. All of this said, I did purchase the child size Earplanes to try (perhaps the others are too large and less effective for me). I didn’t even try them, and not sure I will because the price to pay for a product not working well for me is pretty high. In contrast, Alpines completely eliminated my ear pain, and I only experienced hearing loss for maybe 30 minutes before they popped. No meds. Can you tell they’re there? Yeah. You’re wearing earplugs. But they didn’t hurt me. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend these to anyone who had bad ear pain while flying. Whether for work when you need to be in control of your body, or for play when you’re just trying to have a relaxing getaway!! Life’s too short and these are too affordable to just “deal” with that level of debilitating discomfort.
Review: I never knew flying could be painless - WOW! I just want to say this is the BEST travel related thing I’ve bought in my entire life. I have never enjoyed flying due to the pain the pressure changes brought me, but these earplugs were a game changer! This summer I took 4 flights and a bullet train ride and these earplugs saved me each time! I have to admit I was skeptical upon purchasing, but after using the earplugs on each part of my journey, I am throughly impressed. Takeoff and landing were a breeze as I was totally comfortable and didn’t not feel any pressure changes. I even enjoyed sleeping on my flights (which is rare for me). Overall, I am a big fan of these earplugs and plan on repurchasing when necessary and using them on all my future travel.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do they really help with the build up of pressure?**
A: I had tubes in my ears as a kid and have since had issues with both take off and landing. I was using the disposable Earplanes but with work travel the single use nature of them made me look for another option. These are more comfortable and stop the pressure and resulting pain from flights.

**Q: How many flights are these good for?**
A: You can use these over and over. I have a pair I have used several flights and they still work just as well as they did when they were new. These earplugs are amazing!

**Q: will these fit a small child**
A: Hello. No these won't fit a child's ears but alpine does make a small child's size in these - https://www.alpinehearingprotection.com/earplugs/pluggies-kids/. I hope this helps. These plugs are the best I have ever used - ever time I fly I have horrible pain but when I discovered these I've not had any issues since.

**Q: Should I still pop my ears when I feel pressure with these in or let them pop naturally?**
A: That is a tough question. I think if you can let them pop naturally you’d be better off. I blew my nose very gently and popped my ears but not on purpose and it hurt. But I have a serious problem with my ears feeling like they will explode when I fly and then they hurt for hours after landing. I wear these (out of all of them these worked best for me and came in child size that actually fit my tiny ear holes), and I wear noise canceling headphones on top, and take a lot of Sudafed. That combination makes flying tolerable but not totally. The last time I flew I was sick before we left and was on steroids too and that was the very first time I ever flew and had very little ear pain that went away within 20 minutes of exiting the plane. Hope that helps!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Alpine FlyFit Earplugs – Pressure Relief & Flight Comfort Review
*by E***A on July 3, 2026*

These Alpine FlyFit earplugs work so well, especially for pressure changes during flights. I used them for takeoff and landing and they really helped reduce that painful ear pressure and popping feeling. They fit comfortably in the ear and don’t feel bulky or irritating, even when worn for a long time. I also like that they’re reusable and come with a small case, so they’re easy to carry in a bag or pocket. What surprised me most is how much of a difference they made with ear pressure—it felt way more manageable and less uncomfortable than flying without anything. Overall, these are super effective if you deal with ear pain or pressure on planes, and I would definitely use them every time I travel.
