Updated review: Here I am, almost 5 years after my original purchase. My original bag still works, but has been abused to the point I fear the shoulder strap will eventually break where it was mistakenly cut at some point. I said I would be back, and I can’t be more grateful that this bag is still being manufactured with some wonderful updates to the design. I LOVE the addition of strong, sturdy metal clip style buckles that can be used in conjunction with the standard buckles. The straps are also slightly shorter which leads to a much cleaner look than the original. My ONLY complaint is that I must wait for it to break in once more, but I know, without a doubt, I will be back in another few years to replace this daily staple! Pictures of the old and new bags have been added so you can truly appreciate just how gorgeous this bag will become once it begins to soften with regular use. It’s hard to believe this is actually the same bag, but I promise you will not regret investing in such a beautiful and practical bag. Original review: First of all, I want to thank Komal's Passion Leather for one of the best unpackaging experiences of my life. From the moment you first open the box, you know that this seller truly cares about their product. The leather satchel I purchased was much more protected than I would have imagined. The bag was inside of another small drawstring satchel made of a beautifully printed material which was inside of another clear plastic bag which in turn was taped securely around its contents. Unpacking Experience: When I removed the leather satchel from the drawstring satchel, my first impression was that it is, for once, everything it was advertised to be and more. Not to mention, every piece of ANY clasp that could have potentially damaged the leather in transit was very well covered by cellophane and/or thin packaging foam. Beyond that, the protection was still VERY easy to remove. It took just a few minutes to pull the protective materials from no less than 7 places on the bag. The level of care taken in preparing this bag for shipment and safe arrival is phenomenal! But wait! It gets better! Above and beyond that, there is a "Thank you" letter and care instructions on a piece of beautiful raw paper that was hand signed by Komal. The contents of the letter not only thank you for the purchase but go into the process taken to naturally cure and prepare the product. This bag is "100% handmade from genuine unprocessed leather and is tanned using traditional Sun tanning process and vegetable oils. No chemicals are used during the making of this bag." The Bag Itself: The bag is breathtaking! It has 2 outside zippered pockets on the front and back as deep as the bag itself, 1 buckle pocket on the front middle, an interior zippered pocket (again, as deep as the bag itself, and 3 sections on the interior of the bag. One of these last 3 pockets is almost the entire depth of the bag. (This is the pocket where my 10.5 inch iPad Pro will likely call home, though one of the two thinner spots may work as well if you do not have a case on yours.) The other 2 pockets are great for papers, thinner wallets, your cell phone, a small notepad if needed, maybe to hold a few pens?? There is still plenty of room after placing my iPad into the satchel to allow for my basic needs. I can easily still fit my glasses case, my apple pencil case, my wallet, phone, and other daily wants and needs within this bag without overfilling it. I will be carrying this bag for many years to come. The amount of thought taken to fully maximize this bags potential through the creation process is rare to find these days. The stitching is perfect on every seam (Trust me, I looked. I was sure something HAD to be wrong somewhere.). I have no doubt that this bag will last me for many many years and grow more beautiful with each passing season as it ages. I may have received this at a reduced price, but having this in hand I would have happily paid the original asking price or MORE for a bag of this quality. In closing, if and when I decide I need to replace this satchel, upgrade to a larger one, or just want some variety in my life, I will likely search for Komal's Passion Leather first. I was looking for an affordable, sturdy, nice looking bag for carrying around the things that I like to always have with me. It needed to be a little bit older than my old bag, and I wanted leather if I could manage it. This looked like the sort of thing I wanted, and the extra height over a lot of other bags designed to fit a tablet was part of what swayed me to this bag. It arrived faster than expected, and it was beautifully wrapped within the box in a very prettily patterned bag. The packaging generally showed great care, and on inspection, so did the workmanship. The stitching looks and feels nice, and the buckles all work well. I appreciated that there was metal reinforcement on the buckle straps. I loaded it up with all my stuff, and I was very pleased with how easily everything fit: iPad, external battery, notebook, folding fan, medicine bag (with an inhaler and a few other things), and a pen all went into the front compartment with plenty of room on top. I can plug in the iPad to the external battery while in the bag without worrying about closing the top and knocking the power cord loose (a problem that I had with my old bag). There's also enough room to settle my decent sized folding over ear headphones at the top of the bag, though it does make the top bulge a little bit (it still closes securely). I think that my favorite part is the little front pocket that is the perfect if slightly tight fit for my wallet which means I can tap my bus card without having to dig out my wallet (nobody's getting the wallet out of there without my noticing though, it's snug enough that it takes some practice getting it in and out). Right now the leather is a little bit lighter than as pictured, but places where it rubs against things the most, the final color that it will weather to is already starting to come through. Even without the weathering, it's a lovely bag, though a few shades lighter than I might have chosen, but I really look forward to seeing the color and gloss that it gains with a bit of weathering. I love the feel of the goat leather, and the canvas lining is good quality (though I wouldn't put a tablet against it without a screen protector of some sort). It smells properly of leather right now, though I know that the smell will lessen over time. It might be a bit overwhelming if you don't like the smell of new leather or aren't used to it, but to me, it's a lovely smell that shows the quality.

Outstanding! This is an exceptional, handcrafted product in the finest tradition of handcrafted leather. It is made with high quality leather and metal buckles and artisan seamstry of the stiching. It has a rich leather smell that the care instructions says will fade over time. It comes in a beautiful drawstring cloth bag. It has a large shoulder pad on the chest/shoulder strap, a concern I saw expressed in questions. On the outside it comes with a small buckled pocket that is a perfect size for my metal credit card/ID case. Above this smaller pocket is a wide deep zippered pocket for easy access to Passport, tickets, documents, writing pad etc. On the opposite outside is a slighly wider and deeper zippered pocket. Inside are two pouches the width and depth of the case. One larger than the other. In the larger my iPad Air2 with Otterbox Defender case fits snugly with room at the edges to put my wrapped 10 ft recharging cord. The second pocket is so deep it swallows my iPhone 7Plus with Otterbox Defender case with inches to spare. Again, room for recharge cord and plug too. Finally there is a zippered pocket inside bigger than those outside. This zippered pocket swallows my iphone more completely. The bag can hold a lot of stuff! I can not speak to its usefulness as a book bag since I only use ebooks now. One or two medium thick textbooks or a couple of thick paperback perhaps. But it really seems designed for tablets, phones, their accessories and documents for business or travel. I am really pleased with this bag and feel it is a great value for the cost.

I spent quite a while looking for the right purse. I hate cheap bags that don't last very long and you have to look for a new one all over again when something on it breaks or wears down. I honestly don't carry that much with me and when a purse of mine is out of commission I just carry my phone, keys, and wallet on my person rather than taking the trouble to look for another bag. This time looking (since we're moving out of jacket season and for some reason women's clothing still don't have pockets in things...) I narrowed down my search to two bags, only to realize that out of the hundreds I looked at the final two were both from the same designer. This satchel is perfect because I don't carry a lot with me but when I do it's like journals or scriptures/books. It has enough pockets and zippers that it's versatile but it's not so bulky that you'll lose all of your stuff in it, so I picked this one. It shipped really fast (in two days). Also the quality of the bag is wonderful - you can just tell it's going to last forever. Double rivets for reinforced straps. Sturdy but soft leather. I love that it has the clasps under the straps so you don't have to buckle it to close it and then unbuckle when you need to get things fast (although I wish the small pocket in the front had the same clasp to get into easy, but there's an easily-accessible zipper pocket on the outside on the back for quick access to things). Most of the bag has double stitching. I mostly knew how much thought went into this bag because of the little details: a pad on the shoulder strap to make sure it's extra comfy, an extra piece on the shoulder strap to make sure the extra leather doesn't flap around, etc. This was a very well thought out bag, and I'm so happy I picked this one. It will be perfect for me. It does have a slight leather smell, but it's not very strong and I know it will fade quickly. It also was lighter than pictured, but I've heard from other reviews (and from the personal note from the seller) that it will automatically darken over time, and I could condition it for a quicker darkening result. Overall, I'm very pleased with this back and would recommend this bag and even this company to anyone for the quality and especially for the price.

The color is a little lighter and less distressed than the image pictured for the listing. See the customer pictures posted - very accurate. I look forward to banging mine up a bit since I love the distressed look. But overall, it's a beautiful high-quality piece with durable lining fabric of a hunter green color I like a lot. Lots of inner dividers and compartments to stay organized. I'm using mine as a cross body purse for everyday casual use. The slide buckles give added security for those in higher caution areas concerned about pick-pockets, without making it too annoying to get in and out of yourself. I just let my top hangover unbuckled for my everyday use by the beach, but buckle up when I go into Manhattan while visiting East Coast family. There is a matching leather shoulder guard that comes with it like a lot of computer bags or duffle bags come with - it's easy to take off if you don't want to use it. Adjustable straps - really, there's nothing to complain about with this thing aside from a minor need for updated product images and clarity on level of distress on the leather when it comes. Now time to distress it!!! :) Oh and I know people are weird about the smell of products on here - I'm currently medically chemical sensitive and had no issues. Yes, it DOES smell of leather when it arrives... but you're buying a leather product so it would be concerning if it didn't, wouldn't it? ;) No long-standing odor that I've noticed. If you dislike the smell of leather, then I recommend planning to let it air out and spraying (carefully at a distance as leather can be stain-sensitive to certain liquids) with your favorite neutralizer, perfume/cologne or essential oil. Or rub it down with a good leather oil that you like the smell of to soften the leather up a bit.

Genuine leather, high quality, well-made, and very functional. I'm extremely happy with it and highly recommend it.

This bag is the perfect size for me, (I prefer medium versus huge bags.) and made of real leather. An adjustable strap allows it to sit comfortably at the waist or wherever someone prefers. I loved it the moment I opened the box.

I really didn't want to buy something produced offshore under who knows that conditions. Come to find out, this is made in Chicago and originated here in Tennessee. I spend a lot of time at the hospital for various tests and I wanted something that would hold my wallet, watch, keys, phone, and Kindle, especially when I am laying around in a gown cooling my jets for half an hour or more. I carried a ballistic nylon attaché in the past but it was bigger than what I needed. This is Goldilocks perfect- not too big, not too small. Beautiful looks, high quality leatherwork, and very functional for my needs. The buckles on the big flap concerned me until I realize they hide a tuck lock that gives you quick opening and closing.

Excellent product. Arrived well before the due date. Very well packed. Only grouse - some 20% price drop right after my purchase.

Das ist eine wirklich schöne Tasche, wirkt gut verarbeitet, alle harten Teile waren noch einmal umwickelt, um Kratzer im Leder zu vermeiden. Es gibt im Inneren zusätzlich zum Hauptfach noch drei schmale Fächer, eines davon mit Reißverschluß, der Umhängeriemen ist angenehm lang und hat genug Einstellungsmöglichkeiten. Das Leder ist bereits vor eingefettet/geölt und es liegt eine kleine Pflegeanleitung bei. Ein A4 Block paßt bequem hinein, er ragt über die Seitenränder etwa 2cm hinaus, die Tasche läßt sich auch dann noch problemlos schließen.

Easily the worst satchel I've bought. The leather is uncured - this will stink up your house. I asked for a refund, they wanted me to mail it to them and doing so cost half the price of the bag since I'm not in America. So this was an expensive frustration entirely. Avoid.
