i did some readings and came to know the triphala fruits are toxic. I wonder if the whole fruit is used in making the powder in this particular brand

Banyan Botanicals uses the dried fruit of amalaki, bibhitake, and haritaki.  It is true that the seeds (stones) are considered toxic. Our fruits are de-stoned before they are ground into a fine powder.

Does this product contain maltodextrin (as the pills do)?

Our certified, organic Triphala fruit powder is made from Amalaki, Bibhitaki and Haritaki. This blend contains no maltodextrin and it is organically grown and processed in accordance with the USDA's National Organic Program (NOP). This item contains no animal products and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Maltodextrin is often used as a binder to form tablets. We have removed organic maltodextrin from most of our tablets, including Triphala and we plan to remove maltodextrin from all of our tablets over the next year.

What is proportion of this triphala powder?

I recently watched (hindi version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kO6WHmXSPoE&t=664s) and read (https://www.devang.house/pages/triphala-frequently-asked-questions) that triphala churna (powder) has to be in 3:2:1 or 4:2:1 proportion or it reduces the effect of triphala powder. Having an equal proportion of all three fruits may reduce its effectiveness of thiphala according to the video. The video recommended 3 parts of Amla (Amalaki), 2 parts behada (bibhitaki), and 1 part harad (haritaki) while the text version recommended 4:2:1. I found other sources and they were saying 3:2:1 should be the proportion.

What is the shelf life for this product? Mine doesn't show an expiration date or a production date.

Hello, thank you for your question. Banyan Botanicals bulk herbs last around 2 years if stored proper.y. We recommend storing in a air tight container, like a canning jar, and keeping in a cool dark place, like a cupboard. We do not recommend storing in the refrigerator as the potential for condensation is greater that way and will damage your herbs. It is not required to have an expiration date on the bulk herb packages. You can contact us with the lot number if you would like to know when it was processed.
