Far too thin for camping.
It's not really a "camping" pad, per se. The foam is extremely thin, less than a quarter-inch thick (I put a ruler atop the roll, one inch spans 4.5 of the rolled layers without squishing it). Most yoga mats are thicker. I've done a lot of camping and backpacking for decades, this is the thinnest piece of foam I've ever seen someone attempt to pass off as a "Camping Mat." I could probably sleep on it comfortably if you had 2-4 of them stacked atop each other, but otherwise? Not likely. The reflective shielding on one side is nice. I've decided since I never plan to take this camping, I will likely cut it up with scissors and make water-bottle insulators with it (good for putting a Nalgene inside when I'm cold-weather camping in winter). Even then I will probably double-wall it. So I figure I got my money's worth anyway. But again, I wouldn't bother trusting this thing as a sleeping pad in the outdoors, you might as well sleep on a sheet of tissue for all the good it'll do you.I got a discount on this product in exchange for an honest review.

Thin for a big guy, but still a good value and reflective for emergencies. Thermal shield works.
I like the fact that this has the reflective thermal covering. Works great for keeping heat moving toward your body instead of being absorbed by your camping mat. I'm always thinking of emergency situations - and the reflective material would be great for flagging down a search party if you were ever lost or stranded.I'm a big guy at 6'0" and 220 - so the length is fine but it's a little too thin for me. My wife uses it and enjoys it, I stuck with my green mat which is much more bulky but the payoff is a slightly more comfortable sleep.Still a great value and holds up nicely. I've taken it on over a dozen overnight trips and it's still in perfect condition.

Very disappointed.I initially purchased this for hammock camping and was pleased with the warmth it provided BUT it's awful when used for ground sleeping. After using it with my hammock 3 times, I took it on a week-long backpacking trip. By the second night of ground sleeping, the plastic thermal layer had peeled up and created a large bubble of condensation which the next night popped and an 18 inch section of plastic peeled from the foam.Additionally, if there is any twig or pebble under you, you will feel it all night. This sleeping pad has become the butt of all my camping friends' jokes.

Thermal doing it's job
This is fantastic for winter camping. I put this under my sleeping pad in my hammock, serves as an outstanding insulator. Light weight, serves it's purpose in my system.

pretty nice- well made and adds comfort to an otherwise miserable night's sleep while camping.
We go camping a lot because of my son the Boy Scout. On our last move all our air mattresses were damaged so I was looking for an alternative. I have seen a few in stores and they didn't look like they were worth the money. I received this on promotion for testing so I ordered it to try it out. The item arrived quickly. It was tightly rolled, had 2 end elastics to hold it rolled and it was individually boxed. It is a very nice camping pad and looks sturdier than the ones I have seen in stores. The pad is 1/2" firm foam with an aluminum-like backing. Rolled out it is about 3 feet wide and about six feet long. It rolls up very nicely and the elastic bands are fixed to the ends so no worry with losing them. After unrolling it the one edge sort of stayed rolled up until I weighted it a bit. A few minutes later it was fine. It is really light weight- unnoticeable strapped onto a backpack. The foil lining on the one side is very nice, works for cleaning, moisture barrier AND added warmth. The foil lining is also a very handy safety feature. That foil lining is reflective which means if you have this with you and get lost you have a 3'x6' reflector handy for signaling! The foam appears strong and durable- more so than I expected. Comfort. Everyone in the family gave it a try on the kitchen floor. For me personally, nothing is better than my bed and hard ground is my main irritation with camping trips. All the kids said it was fine and better than lying on bare floor. On my turn, I was able to lay on the mat for a bit and while I can't say I was in heaven and this is the softest thing ever…I can say that my back didn't instantly start hurting like it would have just lying on the bare floor The only main thing to note is that it is a bit narrow. It is just the right width for kids and for adding to a battle rattle (backpack) without sticking out too far on the edges but no room for rolling around or turning over during sleep.Overall, I am glad I have it now and my next camping trip will be a tad less miserable because and it packs up small enough to make it worth packing and adds a little more cushion to the back lending just a bit more possibility to the thought of getting a decent night's sleep. This item was received on promotion in exchange for my testing and review.

Lightweight and compact it still adds comfort and a bit of warmth to your sleeping bag
This is a very nice camping pad, we tried it out today as soon as it came, unrolling it it took a few minutes to relax but was usable right out of the box. It was rolled very tightly, actually it was impossible to get it back as tight as it was and took a bit of doing to get it back together. It is very light weight which is great for using it when backpacking to add some additional comfort to a thin portable sleeping bag as well as adding a bit of extra warmth. The foil backing is very nice and we are glad to have it, it seems more sturdy that I was expecting, although I would suspect if used directly on rocky terrain it would cause damage prematurely it is a concession I am wiling to make to have both the heat reflecting ability and the light weight. It is a bit narrow for bigger people but as wide as I would want it to be for backpacking so I think it right in the sweet spot. My wife laid on it for a while when finishing her yoga and to relax, it was very comfortable and while it is a bit too crinkly to use for yoga if you have better options it would do in a pinch. This is perfect for campers or backpackers who want something in addition to a mummy pack for additional warmth or comfort and I would highly recommend it. I received this item at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
