Does it work well in kitchens I’m afraid if I accidentally place a pan on the counter will it ruin?

My countertop has a rounded front edge, and a back splash with a rounded edge as well. How do you apply this product over a rounded edge?

I applied in cupboard shelves only. It is very stick and hard to remove if not in the right place. I would make a paper or cardboard pattern before cutting out the contact paper. It is good quality contact paper.
