Outdoor Research Women's Halo Sombrero

We ordered the sombrero rain hats, because we thought they could be rolled up into the bags with our rain pants. They worked just fine with that. We haven't had them out in the rain yet, so I can't comment on how well they will work. The brims may or may not be large enough to shed the water both off our faces and far enough off our backs to not run down into our jackets. We'll see! It would have been helpful to have some measurements on-line to guide us regarding what size to order, and we had to guess. The size small fits both me and my husband (who is 6'4"), and the hats are a bit adjustable for size. They aren't the height of fashion, but we think they will work just fine for us when we are hiking, biking or kayaking. The most convenient thing is that they roll up small enough to fit into the rain pants bag that goes on our belts, although they may or may not roll up small enough for a pocket.

I'm not really a hat kind of person, and when I first tried this on it sure looked a little funny and sans style. But I don't care what I look like as long as something works as promised.Today it poured in torrents and I knew the perfect test had arrived. I was outside for just a few minutes the outside of the hat was beading up water and the inside (along with my head) was completely dry. I love the wide brim because my eyeglasses didn't get wet.If you need a rain hat, this consider this one.UPDATE: 9 Oct. 2016: I haven't used others, but still, this has to be the best rain hat available. It's been pouring all day. Wearing this keeps my head, neck and face dry. It makes you want to go out in the rain. Need a rain hat? After I found that Tilley Sou'Wester TWP2 won't cover the glasses adequately, I bought this instead. After I lost one, I had ordered another one. It has held up during rain well, after machine washing when it starts to smell. Brim stays put during wind. It does, however, get hot on warmer days, so I tend to wear it mainly for rain cover.I bought it in "large". Love the hat!! Most hats just don't look good on me. This hat really looks good on me. I even have my wife's approval. I ordered one size larger as other reviewers suggested. A perfect fit! The hat is absolutely water proof. It has just enough brim front and rear to keep rain off my face and water from running down the back of my jacket collar. U live in the Pacific Northwest and all we get here is rain and more rain. And, the hat continues to preform. The brim is not floppy as others have suggested. I am going to purchase another as a spare. I would not be happy if I lost my one perfect. Hat. Amazon has the best price on this hat. I researched prices for two weeks and Amazons price can't be beat by any other retailer. Thanks Outdoor Research for a great product. The hat came quickly and packaged carefully to prevent damage.

The hat works great in wicking the rain off and the magnetic thingy is damn powerful in holding the sides of the hat for a cool cowboy look..Problem is that the hat can trap the heat rather well, meaning while it keeps the rain away, it may create a mini "ponding" on your head.. Also, the brim seems a tad big/long when you attach the magnetic sides.. Cos when I look up, my neck brushes the rear brim.. Otherwise, great product for its price!

I really like this hat. Although I have a small head the small is a bit tight on me.I like the hat and it's quite attractive and versatile. You can fold one of both brims up with snaps to give it an outback look. I have been using this hat as a sun hat as well as rain because it's easy to travel with or stick on your bag and I like the weight for a sun hat.

Wore this hat on a short overnight hike in western NC last weekend. It rained steadily almost the entire time, but this hat performed great! I hate wearing hoods, so I was really hoping it would be a good substitute. And boy, was it ever! The brim is wide enoughI did get a little sweaty hiking up Sam Knob (couple hundred foot gain over about a mile or so), but I guess that's to be expected. Only negative is I wish there was an easy way to remove the chin strap.

I walk my dog in the morning and afternoon - because I live in a valley, when rain falls, it's often blown horizontally by the wind - I tried an umbrella but after going through three in a few months, I decided to get a raincoat - the one I found is great because the hood is deep but on the other hand, it obstructs my side vision -I love this rain hat - it fits fine (it could even be a little deeper) and the tie makes it even more secure when it's windy - wish I had gotten this years ago!

This hat is great for packing away is the suitcase for holiday, a waterproof design and very lightweight. The fit can be adjusted and the strap is a great feature to keep on your head when windy.
