Great sounding pickup
I have been isto guitars since mid 80's tried a lot of stuff.Last summer while on vacation bought used Alhambra 2C and love the sound so thought to upgrade it with a simple pickup. This one is just perfect for what it is. It's very neutral sounding but with of lot of details. Love the sound. Highly recomend. Much better than simple under saddle piezzos this one give you more volume and character. Already installed one so this one went easy. Placed the discs not totaly under the saddle position but slightly in the bridge . The sound is ouncy but also a mellow and well balanced.Great job Journey amplification!

Sounds great, and you do not have to adjust the action of the strings!
Sounds Great, I used the 4 piezo passive and tested it through a Fender twin reverb, very smooth sound by placing 1 just on the out side hole of the treble, 1 on the outside hole for the bass e string and 1 in between / directly behind the 2nd and 3rd and one directly behind the 4th and 5th strings as they come through the saddle, making sure not to block a string hole I put all 6 pegs in the saddle so I could feel them. You have to use medium thick CA glue (super glue) or the like on the metal side of the piezo and hold them in place for about 1 minute to hold where you place them and I placed them about 1/8 inch from the pegs in the saddle. The pegs are what hold the strings in the saddle that are pushed inside the guitar.

Better than expected!
Incredible sound for a pickup that has no battery powered pre-amp! Installation is tricky if you have a classical nylon string guitar since I could not find specific instructions for these type of guitars. I glued the piezo pieces using my best judgement under the saddle and the sound is incredible! Lots of bass but you can control that on your amplifier. Very pleased with this product!

JourneyTek EP004K (piezo with 4 ends) is great
The sound is great. I think four piezo ends on a pickup is better than two. Also, a difference in design is that the whole pickup is two parts: (1) the four piezo wires end at a mono mini plug that is plugged into (2) the jack end. It resulted in easier mounting.

Not working
Bought this item last year and just had the opportunity to install it this past week. It doesn't work.

I wasn't sure. Now I am! And now I'm taking them out. Read the whole review.
I have a late 70s Takamine classical that is one of the best they ever made. Using it in a studio was not easy because apparently all my mics are crap and can't handle the dynamics this guitar creates. Rather than spend $5K on a new mic I decided to put one of the new generation of piezo pickups in it. I chose Journey based upon the reviews and demos. It didn't hurt that they cost half of what the K&Ks do. It was rather daunting to drill a hole in this rare guitar but everything went perfectly. I was not able to install it exactly the way Journey intended because the bracing under the bridge was narrower than more contemporary guitars. There was less space between braces but I was able to get them in by staggering them so that the ones under the low E and high E were forward of the centerline of the bridge. The other two were behind it. I was able to get my hand in there and place them rather easily. Unless you're dealing with a 40-50 year old guitar you probably won't need to do this. I stuck them on with double sided tape. The very strong type used for electronic assembly. When/if they fall off I'll switch to super glue. One weird thing: Journey includes the parts and jigs used for guitars with bridge pins. Why? How do they sound? Just like the guitar does but louder. No quacking, no weird harmonics, no noise. They require a little more gain at the mixer to get adequate signal but that's not a problem. If it was a problem a simple DI box would solve it. So far I'm impressed. On edit. Aug 30 2022 One of the transducers came loose and I did stick it back on with superglue. The sound remains excellent and much better than my crap microphones. I've learned not to use too much gain on input and prefer to normalize tracks recorded with these pickups in my DAW. It just sounds better that way. I sometimes rung the signal through a Beheringer DI box and it sounds pretty good that way too. So here it is October 30th. I've done several projects with this guitar and have changed my mind about how it sounds. There is a weird phasing problem that makes the pickups completely worthless. I don't know if something happened to one or more of the transducers or what. I'm back to using a pair of microphones. I'm glad only one of the pickups is glued in with super glue. I'm not sure how to uninstall it yet. I changed my review from 5 stars to 2.

Great tone, great value.
Excellent tone, and powerful enough without a pre-amp. I installed it in a mandolin with a magnetic pickup already fitted, and it's as loud as that at full volume. Of course you may still need a way of adjusting volume and tone for live performance. Comes with everything you need to install it on a classical guitar (which it is designed for), with a QR code to link to PDF instructions online. I had a struggle to get it into my mandolin, but I managed it. The process would have been a little easier with the 3-element version (EP001K) of course, but the price is the same so why not have the 4th contact?

Excellent product.
Installed on my 12 string. It sounds absolutely amazing. Low, mid, high tones are all perfectly balanced. No hum, no feedback. When cranking the amp, it sounds just as clear. Incredible product. Buy it.

Great passive pick up. Clear and clean

they work
these work. the only difficulty is fitting them. they really need to be glued under the bridge of your instrument, and that is non reversible. The sound quality is excellent. I have put them in two guitars now.
