I have some very good books of TCM but this is one of the best for Formulas. The author has quoted from the sources. There are many references to the formula's authors thoughts , strategy and philosophy behind making certain formulas. The formulas which have similar functions have been compared and the minute details have been mentioned. Awesome book! I am very thankful to the authors for making TCM easy and interesting.I love this book! Thank you,Thank you !

I had some good herbal teachers in school and this book is rich ...
I've relied on this book extensively for my schooling, board exams, and clinical practice. More than just a formulary, it gives you details of the historical development of formulas, and the TCM-based thinking for how and why they function. Each herb is explained in relation to the other herbs. These insights are crucial if you want to take your learning from just memorization to having a deeper wisdom of how the TCM formulas operate. I had some good herbal teachers in school and this book is rich enough in its details that I can recapture some of the amazing insights I learned from those teachers, through this text.

never makes it to the shelf
This book is a favorite! It truly never gets to the bookcase because i read and reference it often. i've learned SO MUCH internal medicine from the analyses and commentary of the formulae - it is positively delicious. each chapter ends with a very useful chart of the formulae of the category and subcategories, outlining indications, etc. It's great to study from, and i hope to use this for decades in my future practice.

This is probably my favorite book so far for herbals
I am a TCM student in my 2nd year of Master's program for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. This is probably my favorite book so far for herbals. Layout is much like the Materia Medica for individual herbs, but formatted for formulas instead. Very good explanations and comparisons of formula modifications and other similar formulas. Highly reccommend for all TCM students!!

Book for Chinese Medicine
This is one of the essential book for the chinese medicine practitioner. This book is not for novoice person looking to get some herbal formulas. It assumes that you are a chinese Medicine practitioner. The book is overall very well organised compared to its first edition. There are extra formulas (hence double the size). Overall its a great reference and I enjoy reading it and using it as a reference. Cheers.

Needed in my studies and working with my vet, b/c her background is as a DVM-CVM. It makes things so much easier considering I have yet the foundation in Chinese Medicine. My background is Western herbs and Ayurveda herbs for the time being.

Excellent Quality!
Full of information. Good for students of TCM and for reference for the practitioner. The soft cover is very nice and durable. Well worth buying.

Would not be without this book, only criticism it should give you the modern day replacement for herbs that are now considered too toxic and you cant purchase them in the UK.
