I am impressed by these pads. In reading the comments, I think your level of satisfaction depends on your intended use and a little common sense. These are everyday pads, not the Gold pads, so they are made from 16 lb paper, have a thin backing, and no cover. So, to expect them to withstand rain, markers, and wear and tear is silly and obviously not what they were designed for. These pads are best used as a refill in a padfolio (longer term) or a clipboard (short term) in situations where you need to capture or share handwritten information - in a compact and convenient way - such as in a briefcase or carried with you to a meeting. The 16 lb paper and thin backing keeps the pad thin enough to fit inside a case with a laptop, books, or other carry alongs where if too thick you have to jettison paper altogether. The pad is used for a short period of time and often one sided - as unlike a spiral bound notebook, pages as flipped back behind the padfolio or clipboard. There is no need for a cover to protect the oages from curling or getting wet because the padfoilio takes care if that. It enables the user to invest in a thin protective leather case and buy cheap refills. The other thing that I like about these pads is that the paper is really smooth. With these and the Sanford Jetstream pens, I feel like I am treating myself. And, as I normally type, handwriting is rare, so I like the fact that there is less hand fatigue and drag to slow me down and make my handwriting sloppy. So, these pads are great for rigorous use if in a protective cover. If you are looking for the pad to provide the protection, pay more for 20 lb paper, a thick stiff backing, and/or a cover. Those run $2 each not $1 each. If you are looking for a staple bound but perforated pad for your padfolio that is thin enough to take with you and smooth enough to enjoy writing on, these are a great deal.

Implied by the branding on the spine, this is not just another legal pad, it is THE legal pad. Now, I order paper regularly but never have I met a legal pad so bold, so confident, that they crown themselves as "THE legal pad." So I purchased the paper and put them to the test. To my surprise, this paper has earned it's crown.Starting with the fake leather-like design on the spine, it screams luxury to all wondering eyes and passerbys. The elegance of the Times New Roman font type of the spine demands respect with it's italicized emphasis on the word "The" and the bold lettering of "Legal Pad". But the quality doesn't stop there.Just beneath the spine, you'll find a finely perforated edge which scores, not only style points, but also performance points. With every pull of each sheet, it's hard to overlook the effortless tearing, so flawless, so precise. Never rip another page, with THE Legal Pad. Ah...but what of style you ask?The finely printed lines look as if a master craftsman measured each line with diligence and definitude. It's true, some may see a mass printed and manufactured notepad, but between each line hides the hint of subtle art.Will this legal pad change your life? These legal pads were great for taking notes. However, we had another use in mind. Myself and the other inmates fashioned a ladder to escape using the used sheets of paper. It worked, I am no longer in prison! I am now in the hospital with two broken legs. It seems we should have use sheets that were not written upon. Next time I’ll use unused sheets to make my escape. It will work next time for sure.

Great quality for such a reasonable price!! Paper is thick enough that standard liquid roller and ball point pens do not bleed through to the other side at all. Perforations tear very cleanly, but do not too easily unlike many legal pads I've used; they will not tear when put in a bag without a folder protecting them, or when folded over the top. Perhaps this seems like a lot of critique for a legal pad, but if quality of work/school/personal supplies is something that affects your happiness in daily life, you will appreciate these!!

Tops still make great paper products. The pages still tear off like they should. Thickness is what it should be. If you are old fashioned like I am, and want to use a paper pad that does the job, use the Tops pads. They work.UPDATE: Just purchased another pack of these in 12/2021 and they are still the same quality as they have been for years.

For those of you who are sensitive to how writing paper is ruled - these TOPS pads are narrow ruled. they are not Jr. Legal which should be College ruled (Medium). They are 6mm ruled. I’ve posted compare pictures so you can see the actual difference. Narrow (6mm) vs, College/Jr Legal 7.5mm - Medium, vs Legal 9mm - Wide. I prefer College/Jr Legal ruling paper and without measurements the manufacturer can say what they want. TOPS is a good brand and the pads are quality just not described correctly.

I like the narrow line spaces. Four ruled lines to the three you usually see on a pad.Most Important - do the pages tear off cleanly or do you end up with torn and ragged tops for the pages and a clump of annoying paper scrap at the top of the pad? Good news. The pages have very fine and close mini-perforations and the pages tear off neat and clean. I know that's a little OCD, but there it is.These are excellent pads

These pads were exactly what I was looking for. I bought an SVG file which required this size of paper pad and as I wanted to make something for my Grandchildren's teachers for Christmas these were ideal. I know I could have altered the sizing on the SVG but I liked the look of the finished result using this size paper. Very fast delivery from America too.

I used to get these from the US, so was pleased to be able to order them on Amazon. They are great for lists and the yellow makes them easy to find. The paper quality is good for writing.

I have had better quality, but nowhere near this price.

Really nice Pads for jotting notes, the perforated pages are a bit frustrating when I lose the top page because it can rip away easily, but other than that I really like the pads.
