The bigger cup sizes come on sturdy metal ring and the spoons come on their own metal ring. You can open the ring once you find the break point. Anyway they are nice, but not the highest of quality metal. Meaning if you find yourself applying some force, they will bend. So be careful wrangling them from the drawer or drying rack.
