Mandarin Chinese English Bilingual Visual Dictionary (DK Visual Dictionaries)

I bought a visual multi-lingual book 4-5 years ago; I was surprised to find it; it was the only one out there at the time. Every once in a while I would check to see if there were others, but to no avail. This past month or so, I started new languages for the fun of it (along with others that I have learned in school and want to keep up with). I noticed this visual book for Chinese and also one for Russian, and I immediately bought them. They are exactly what I have been looking for! They are well made, and it is so much fun to go to different sections like fruits and vegetables for example, and pronounce the words out easily, because not only is the Chinese and English there, but also the transliteration of the word. This is a great help for young and old who want to learn a language, and to SEE what it is, and how to pronounce it correctly. The PLUSES are it comes with a FREE audio app and a great index in the back! Well worth the price! I will purchase more in the future when I learn other new languages!

This book is absolutely fantastic for learning every day vocabulary. Most of the language courses that I've seen teach you the basic phrases and you have to rely on google or dictionaries to try and determine what the words are for other items, but the way this is laid out is perfect. And it is extremely in depth with every detail named. Ex: in the picture of a water heater they have it broken down into 10+ words for each little part that you may have to know if yours is having issues. It is amazing how in depth this is. From emotions, to body parts, to hair color, to kitchen utensils, to sports, tools and hardware, gardening, etc. Not really a con but be warned that the human anatomy diagrams are graphic 3D representations and not suitable for children, as you can clearly see the details of the male/female anatomy and names multiple parts of sexual organs. Pros: So much information. Literally everything is labeled. Cons: Tiny print. Maybe size 8-10 font which is not a huge deal in some language, but it makes it very hard to see the tone accents with this very small font.

Bought this as a gift for someone learning Mandarin. The pages are crisp and feature high quality images with unique layouts for each section, making studying fun.

A very helpful visual dictionary for adults. My only quibbles with it are that 1) it would be nice if the print were larger, and 2) it would be ideal for anyone dealing with a multinational Chinese population to have both simplified AND traditional characters. For the price, though, this is a very handy book!

This is a really good visual guide to learning Mandarin!

This book separates all common topics into different categories, it's so convenient to understand the meaning of the word with visual images and translations. The app that could be downloaded from the app store is also a plus to this book for pronunciation. However, the downside of the app is also very obvious; it cannot search for a certain word like a dictionary. The only function of the search bar in the app is to show the content of that page. You'll need to have the book on hand in order to find the right page. Hope they can update the app for a better reading experience.

This book is amazing! It comes with an app that let's you hear each word to learn the correct pronunciation. This book helped me learn the different tones used in mandarin. The words are not as small as everyone says they are; they are a little small, but still easy to read. This book is full of words and phrases and has a chinese and english glossary in the back. The app makes it easy to learn and there are sooooooooooo many words to learn. This is an extremely low price for such a dense book and the app that comes with it for free is very helpful. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to expand their chinese or english vocabulary.

ottimo dizionario visuale, suddiviso per argomenti e ben strutturato. uniche pecche: 1. formato tascabile, quindi all'interno è scritto un po' piccolo. utile per viaggiare un po' meno per studiare. 2. l'app funziona alla perfezione ma i vocaboli non sono inseriti nell'ordine in cui sono presentati nella singola pagina, ma in ordine alfabetico quindi si perde un po' di tempo per cercare. nel complesso ottimo prodotto per sinologi disperati e con tanta memoria visiva

Attention ! beaucoup de vocabulaire spécialisé/ technique. Parfait pour les apprenants ayant une vocation ou un domaine de compétence dont ils auront à parler (médecine, sport, musique...).
