Excellent
Replaced 3 Linksys mesh WiFi nodes with this system and the change has been simply fantastic. No lagging, no spooling, no drop outs, no week signal. Expensive but worth it.

Numbers Don’t Lie
Recently upgraded my internet speed to 800Mbps. My old wireless system consisted of a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 paired with the Nighthawk AC1200 range extender. My speed tests came in at 89 to 75Mbps download and upload at 89 to 76Mbps at the extender. I placed the Orbi router and satellite in exactly the same position as the old gear. Download speed is now 360 to 650Mbps depending on time of day and the top speed reached was 900Mbps at 5am on the satellite end. Upload is a steady 190 all day long. Those speeds hold true for the upper storey of my 5 bedroom villa, and there are no dead spots. Yes, the Orbi 852 system is expensive, but I got mine at a 30% discount as the new Orbi wifi 6e (RBKE) has come out. So looks for deals. Setup speedy and easy and no problems so far. Techies do complain that the Orbi is not customizable enough for them. I have configured many a router, but I am quite happy with the Orbi’s hands off approach as will most consumers. I subtract one star for the high price as there are more affordable and customizable systems available. But according to all the reviews I read, the Orbi wins on range, speed, ease of use and updates are mostly bug free thanks to the less customizable software. Simple is good.

Fantastic hardware. AWFUL Software - UPDATE
As is customary with Netgear, the hardware is excellent but the software is so bad that words fail me to describe it. If you buy this buy it for the WiFi performance and nothing else. The security services it offers over the top are overpriced and not much short of a total rip-off don't use them. Setting this up if you have a home network that is in anyway slightly abnormal, then it is a nightmare of pain and suffering to set up. However, once it is set up and working its great. So set it up and then never touch it again, BE VERY WARY of firmware updates that might force to to suffer the whole set up process again or worse screw up the functionality of the device. SUMMARY: Five stars for hardware. Loses 2 stars for terrible software and another star for the high price. Only buy if you are IT literate and can deal with Netgear's awful software and lack of support. UPDATE: DOWNGRADE TO ONE STAR. ACTUALLY IT SHOULD HAVE NEGATIVE 5 STARS IT IS SO BAD DO NOT BUY THIS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I have been fighting with this product for a week. I can only conclude that the product is defective. The satellites constantly drop the WIFI connection and none of the things (I have tried everything) will improve it. It just gets worse and worse. I am returning this for a full refund and will replace it with something else. UPDATE 2 - UNIT RETURNED TO AMAZON: Spent an hour on the phone with support. Support determined that the device I had was faulty so have returned it for a full refund. (fast and excellent service from Amazon on that front). I have ordered another one and will update again when I have tried to install it. so for now keeping one star because I am not convinced that this is not a design flaw and that the next product I have wont have exactly the same issues. UPDATE 3 - 2ND UNIT JUST AS BAD AS THE FIRST. I bought a new unit and had all of the same problems. There is clearly a design decision Netgear made or a bug it has not found that prevents the Orbi from working with my main router. It is completely unusable. I use a linksys 3200acm as my main router. I am going to try the TP-LInk Decox60 instead which costs half as much and I expect will probably work 1000x better. The odd thing is that my old Orbi RBR50 worked perfectly but for some reason Netgear has totally screwed up the RBR850 and made it unusable. AVOID at all costs.

Good but not perfect
If you will use the 2 satellites with the router wirelessly, all will be good. If u want to add more satellites to that setup, good luck with that. I wish i would never upgraded from wifi5 orbi to 6, however the speed is very good if the satellites works over 5GZ connection with router, worth to mention that wired satellites will be out of syn and will never works. Unless u are a geek, dont add more satellites than 2

Great Mesh Concept, Exceptionally Flawed Implementation
Like most WiFi products, when they work all is well. However, when the don’t cracks appear and frustration grows exponentially the deeper you need to dive to fix it. I purchased a main and Satellite pack, then realised I should have bought the 2nd satellite. So the whole system was setup as main & satellite and then added the 2nd satellite. Problems encountered: 1. App setup wizard failed to find the Orbi, forcing me to use the web/browser setup. After creating a Netgear account it took about 15 mins to recognise my Orbi router, another 10 to discover the satellite. Not sure why this isn’t instant. 2. App admin password was set on the browser version, wouldn’t work on the iOS app. After 3 password resets, the app finally accepted the correct password. In between times selecting “forgot password” would count as a failed password attempt an lock me out for 30secs. 3. Setting up the 2nd satellite after the Orbi router and 1st satellite required me to reset the whole network and start the setup process from scratch. It worked ok setting the whole lot up as router and two satellites. The only time any wizard process worked seamlessly 4. House has thick concrete walls, so wireless backhaul not very effective. Wired backhaul worked ok, took about 10 minutes to sort itself out, with Orbis changing leds several times until all lights off indicating all is well. Both satellites effectively wired back to Orbi router 5. Suffers from 10-30sec mini outages, indicating no internet access. During the outages, the entire Orbi network is unavailable, so unable to access a file server plugged into the Orbi satellite. So whole wired network unavailable when WAN port unavailable 6. The App is useless for diagnosing, only good for showing connected devices. Reverting to the browser version has no diagnostic capabilities and the system log only shows the failed password attempts from the App and browser never being in sync with admin password. No understanding of why mini outages are occurring. 7. In the iOS App any device connected to the Orbi satellites report as wired, so iPads and wireless IoT devices report incorrectly. 8. Unable to specify 2.4GHz or 5GHz network. Just OrbiXX network Ssid name. 9. This Orbi system replaced a manually configured mesh network that used 3x Apple AirPort Extreme routers using same SSID and password and mutually exclusive WiFi channel selection. It’s only downfall was struggling with 15 or more WiFi devices connected and streaming at the same time 10. The automatic WiFi channel selection always selects the same channel as the most powerful WiFi neighbour, never a low use or empty channel. The software for both browser or app management is poorly implemented and limited in true power user features. The wizards don’t often work or get stuck in circular sequences that either force the closure of app/browser to start the process over again or revert to illogical out of sequence responses that force restarts anyway I couldnt recommend purchasing this product and at $700+ , I’m very disappointed
