Handheld HAM flexibility
I have a total of 5 different antennas for my two unlocked handheld radios, Baofeng UV-9R. Depending on the terrain and the radio frequency in use I can easily change antenna thanks to these BNC connectors.

Work great for connecting scanner to larger antenna
I got these adapters to connect a standard Uniden Bearcat scanner to a larger "rabbit ear" type antenna that I have mounted in a window. This allows me to use the scanner in a different area of the house without having to adjust the antenna all the time.

Big improvement over SMA connectors
I'm a Ham Radio operator, and I carry handheld VHF/UHF radios frequently; I even use them in my car, attached to a roof-mounted antenna, for "mobile". The standard SMA connectors just seem a bit too delicate for frequent antenna changes. These BNC adapters make connecting and removing antennas much faster and easier, with less chance of damaging the connectors. I'm converting both HTs and all my antennas to use BNC.
