These are pretty much exactly what I was expecting. I took off one star bc the plastic film protecting the surface was incredibly hard to remove. It got stuck where the surface curves and I couldn't get it all off. If my display didn't hide the surface of the item I wouldn't want these shelves.

These collect SO much lint and dust, it’s impossible to keep them clean and shiny. I’ll definitely be replacing these for my table set up

The description says metal. They’re PLASTIC! I’m going to keep them because they work for my purpose-but I didn’t get what I paid for.

It's my hope that the issue I experienced was a one-off problem. I ordered the black risers to display some small models on my bookshelves. The actual cut and finish of the risers is great for the price - not perfect, but for a set of six at a low price, totally acceptable. But the odor that came from the package as it was opened was a sign something wasn't right. Acrylics like these almost always come with a removable protective layer attached. Unfortunately, these appear to be made by taking an acrylic sheet with the protective coatings still attached, and heating/bending it at the ends to make the riser stand. At these corners where it's heated, the protective coating melted into the acrylic and won't fully detach, and at these locations, a chemical smell that caused serious discomfort is off-gassing to such a degree that it can be smelled anywhere in the room. I'm not sure this is 100% the reason for the odor, but the odor itself is strongest at these parts. Hopefully this is just an issue with the set I got, but given that all six of them had the same problem, I have a feeling it's a bigger issue.
