The category Contemporary Women Graphic Novels is already one of my preferred genres to peruse for new reads, but I had no idea this book existed two days ago. Finding out about Sarah Andersen and her drawings was totally a fluke. I saw someone shared one of her drawings on Facebook. It was about books, so naturally the first thing I did was share it to my own author page. After that, I had to find out more about the artist, so a few clicks later I was getting my own copy of the book. And like many of the other reviewers of this book, once I started reading it, I stared wide-eyed at my computer screen, screamed “OH MY GOD SOMEONE GETS ME!!” Andersen's drawings are cute and quirky, but they do get the humor and the occasional complete nonsense that is a socially anxious bookworm with a heart of gold. Had I not needed to walk away from my computer to do the adult thing for awhile, I would have devoured this book in no time. In fact, I almost wish I could have not discovered this artist until she had published four or five books so that I could have had a delightful weekend binge. Anyway... it's an awesome series of comics that sort of just gets life. Review: So relatable - love the online Sarah Scribbles comics so when I saw the author was producing a book, I immediately pre-ordered it. It's taken me a few months to get to, but I finished it within a night. The content is down-to-earth but in a humorous way. Andersen bases her comics on the awkward but true things in some of our lives. The art itself is simple but cute, and some of the facial expressions have me cracking up. "Sarah" is so relatable that it isn't even funny. I spent my night reading this, snickering, chuckling, laughing out loud, reading parts to my husband, and showing him parts that fit him to a tee. He seemed to enjoy what parts I showed him as well. If you're a fan of irony and humor in real-life situations, chances are you'd probably enjoy Sarah's Scribbles. Check out the Facebook page and if it seems up your alley, I highly recommend getting this book. I've seen some of the pages in here online but others are new and the book itself is good quality. The red fuzzy material on the cover is a nice added touch. Will be buying all future books!

Adulthood is a Myth (My Kindle Review)
Andersen’s work is a pretty simple but funny collection of comics that hilariously capture what it’s like to live in modern adulthood and the struggles that we all may have experienced. The comics’ artstyle and feel definitely reminded of Allie Brosh’s wild memoirs. Great comic choice for finding some chuckles. A- (91%/Excellent)

the beginning of the scribbles
Sarah Andersen expresses herself through her art, which she calls scribbles. But that’s not all she does. She expressed all of us through her art. She writes about relationships and the struggles of being an introvert and her love for the smell of books. She is insecure and makes blanket forts for reading in and just wants to say home in her pajamas, and she is all of us. Or anyway, she is me. Through her cartoons, Andersen is honest about her feelings about herself, about school, about her boyfriend, and about snacks. She is willing to talk about her embarrassments and her life choices and how she is worried about her future. She also spends a lot of time thinking of herself as an old woman, looking back over her life and guessing at what she’d say about them when she’s in her 80s. She talks about the real things that come with being an adult—paying bills and setting alarms to wake up early and dealing with tampons and having to go to work. To her, graduation feels like jumping out of a plane with an unreliable parachute. Running into someone from high school is a trap. Being friends with other artists is both a blessing, as they can help make your work better, and a curse, as you want them to break their fingers so they can’t create better art than you. Adulting is complicated, and maybe not even all that real, but it does feel endless some of the time. More laundry, more bills, more paperwork, more people. Sometimes you just need a break from adulting, and that’s the perfect time to reach for a Sarah’s Scribbles book and hide in your book fort for a while. I loved Adulthood Is a Myth. Today was a challenging day, in a challenging week, during a challenging season at work, and I just needed a break tonight. I needed to feel like I was seen and celebrated for being human and tired and vulnerable and messy. I thought I’d be able to turn to Sarah’s Scribbles to get the understanding I wanted, and she did not disappoint. This book was a much-needed break for me, a calorie-free dessert at the end of a long tasteless meal. The more I read of Sarah’s Scribbles, the more I like her, and the more I want to keep reading.

Hilarious, true, and thoughtful
I bought this book for my Kindle Paperwhite after seeing it recommended on the sidebar of my Amazon page. (btw, the comics look great on the Paperwhite, so if you're on the fence about buying the digital copy of this you have nothing to worry about.) I felt an immediate connection with this author - she was so relatable! I mean, any book with the title "Adulthood is a Myth" is going to attract a 25 yr old trying to make it on their own in the world. I was cracking up at almost every page or thinking "THAT'S SO TRUE" for each of the strips. The author made me laugh at my confusion with "borderline adultness" and also calmed my nerves about the future just a little bit. "Ah," I thought, "so there's others out there who feel the same way. I'm not alone." I've already ordered a physical copy to give to my friend for her birthday. I would recommend this to anyone between the ages of 18-35 because it will resonate.

This book is my spirit animal
I've been a fan of Sarah's work ever since I caught her comics randomly browsing the web. I purchased the book as soon as I knew about its existence. There really isn't much to say except that it's really, really fun. Being a compilation of mostly unrelated comic strips, giving a better, comprehensive description is a bit hard. All I can say is that they all do an excellent job of describing the life of awkward people. Just like the blurb at the back cover says, this is a book for those people who are still confused at the prospect of adulthood. I really can't say much else without giving away the content of some comics as example, and I refuse to ruin even one of them. It's better to just get the book and read them all on your own. The only bad thing I can say for the book is that it has an end. That, unfortunately, is unavoidable. The good news is that there's a new book by Sarah coming in 2017, which I already have on preorder. Hopefully that one doesn't end.

Adorable
This was hilarious and relatable and adorable. I saw a friend on Instagram had read this, and put it on my radar. The Library had a copy, so I got to read it! Excellent fun!

Why is she writing comics about me?
If you have spent any time on the interwebs, you have had Sarah's Scribbles forward to you at least once. This lovely awkward, happy woman often pops up with words of silliness and wisdom in my Facebook stream. I've enjoyed the webcomic enough I thought I would send the author a little support so she can continue to create more of these comics I've enjoyed so much therefore Book Was Purchased. (Make more Sarah Andersen, please.) "Adulthood is a Myth" contained some old and NEW favorites. For example: "So what are your hobbies?" "Well I go on Wikipedia, and I'll read an interesting page and follow the links to OTHER cool pages ... then I'll read those. I could do it all day!" (other speaker response blank) Sara blinks before responding with a touch of confusion. "Is that not a valid hobby?" If you would consider Wikipedia-rabbit-hole-exploration a valid hobby, then this book is for you!
