These work great on my 18v XRP DeWalt tools!
I was really bummed when DeWalt discontinued the 18v XRP line of cordless tools. I have 10 tools and it became impossible to find new batteries for them. I was happily surprised when this converter came out - it works great and allows me to use the 20v batteries which are readily available. Sometimes, it is a bit stick when you try to remove it from the tool and requires a good tug to get it off, but that is a minor issue.

Good investment
These adapters work fine. Easy to convert my 18 volt tools to 20 volts. Other reviewers said they were hard to remove from the tools so I purchased several so I don't need to remove them. The only negative is that leaving batteries connected with the adapter over time seems to drain the battery . I left one connected in my circular saw for several days and the battery was completely drained. Recharged fine.

Adapter for one Tool
Purchased this item to run my Dewalt DW077KD Rotary Laser. The 18 Volt battery that came with the unit will no longer hold a charge and I was in the market for a replacement 18 volt battery when I came across this adapter. All of my Dewalt tools are already 20 Volt so the thought of buying an 18 volt battery to run one tool did not sit well with me. I searched around the internet to see if this adapter was compatible with my rotary laser after reading that this adapter was currently compatible with approximately 90% of Dewalt's 18 Volt line. I could not confirm if this unit was actually compatible with my unit so I took a chance and bought it anyway. I am glad that I did because the directions say it is compatible with all Dewalt Rotary laser levels, however if you use this unit on a DW079KD or DW074KD you won't be able to shut the door on the unit which I guess makes the unit water resistant. I tried this unit out with all of my Dewalt Batteries and with each battery the unit worked flawlessly. I have every Dewalt battery in the 20 Volt line, except the new Bluetooth batteries. According to the directions this unit will not work with any of the 18 Volt line of Dewalt work lights or nailers so I tried it with the Dewalt DCL061 18/20 Volt combo work light and the light did not work with this adapter. It flickered once and then went out. Once I removed the adapter and used just the battery the light worked perfectly. I gave it 4 stars because as other reviews have mentioned it is a bit difficult to remove the adapter from units. You actually have to press the release buttons towards the top of the unit as opposed to the bottom and sometimes space is limited and getting your fingers in the tight places is a bit tricky. Overall, I am glad Dewalt came out with this adapter because as I mentioned earlier the thought of buying a new 18 volt battery for one tool did not sit well with me but now that I have this adapter I have access to my complete set of 20 volt batteries.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Saved My Old Tools — Works Perfectly With 20V Batteries
This adapter has been an absolute lifesaver. I have a full collection of older DeWalt 18V tools, and I figured I would eventually have to toss them or sell them for almost nothing. Someone mentioned this adapter, and I decided to give it a shot. Now I can use all my 20V batteries in my old tools, and they actually run stronger than they did before. The added weight is minimal and the Battery life is far better than the tools original batteries. Everything fits securely, performance is great, and it’s given a second life to tools I’ve had for years. If you have older DeWalt gear, this adapter is a must. Totally worth it.

Works great. Little hard to remote, but not a deal breaker. JUST REMEMBER TO REMOVE YOUR 20V BATTERY, AS THIS ADAPTER WILL DRAIN IT. Found out the hard way.

Need this as 18 volts are pretty much obsolete

Works Great On Most 18V DeWalt Power Tools
These adapters are a great way to extend the lives of 18V DeWalt tools by standardizing on the 20V platform. I have an old but reliable set of 18V DeWalt tools and several newer 20V tools and maintaining two different battery platforms was not ideal. These adapters allow all to work with one battery type and one charger. There are two downsides to be aware of. First, the adapters are easy to install but can be difficult to remove so getting one for each tool is best. Also, the adapter increases the overall working size of the tool making it slightly heavier. This is not a huge problem in most cases but the extra length can render a circular saw unusable at some cut depths. This is because the battery may stick out too far to clear the workpiece. I use the 2AH battery to get around this problem on my particular saw. Other models may not require any extra attention.
