Faith is the Epitome of What Good Pop Music is
This album was nothing new when I bought it because I had already heard most of the tracks on the internet. I liked the music so much that I decided to add it to my collection.I listen to this album a lot now, and it is one of my favorite albums. Every track on this album compliments each other and it seems that there is no filler on this track list. The arrangements; the vocals; the lyrics. They are all molded into a soul/pop masterpiece. Each track deserves its own recognition:Faith (5/5): This track is very simple, but it is also very enjoyable. It has a great guitar rhythm and a hook that is really catchy.Father Figure (5/5): This is one of my favorite tracks. Even though the lyrics may point towards a more discretionary and inappropriate affair, I think it is a work of art and fits this album perfectly. It has a way of showing that love can be dark and misunderstood and it matches the theme of the album. It has religious allusions in the title, but it goes on to a more human experience.I want your sex (Part 1&2) (4/5): This track s fun. You can dance to it. It also maintains a subtle theme in the album, "I don't need a bible, just look in my eyes." Its a clever, catchy6 song with some new instruments brought in like horns to give it more of a funk feel. I like it, but it is not one of my favorites on the album. One more try (5/5): I'll admit, this track took a couple of times to get into it. It seemed to be the same, mellow and repetitive melody and vocals. After awhile though, I actually found it a really great track. The lyrics are so powerful here. listen to feel the sadness and request for redemption for yourself.Hard day (3/5): I like this song a lot. On itunes I tend to put it on playlists, but sometimes it throws me off when I listen to the full album. It just didn't seem to have many themes of religious allusions and topics that made the album really worth listening to as a whole.Look at your hands (5/5): I feel that this is a very underrated track. It is my second favorite on the album. It has this nice ambient feel and the vocals are soft yet outstanding, in my opinion.Monkey (4/5): If you can get past the corny hook, than it is actually a really fun track. I really like the version on the music video, but this was different on the album. Nonetheless, great track. Having a "monkey on your back" means to me that there is a person who has an addiction (whether it be drugs or a lover) and though this monkey is harmful, the attention that it demands is given.Kissing a fool (5/5): I can't even begin to describe my admiration for this track. IT is my favorite. The lyrics, the music, and the vocals: it is all perfect. The track maintains this lovely melody throughout and then it picks up and takes you up, but just as it does, it settles you back down. Everything seems timed so precisely. It is a very good track and even of you don't buy the album (which you should do), at least get this track. You won't regret it.Hard day (2/5): I could handle the track once, and I don't mind it. Two times though? As I said, good song to shuffle in a playlist, but in this album it just gets repetitive and awkward because it just doesn't fit with the rest of the tracks well. It isn't a bad remix though there are not many differences from the original.I want your sex (part 3) (4/5): It wasn't a bad way to end the album. It is more subtle and sensual than parts 1 and 2. Its actually a pretty good track. Its also good that parts 1&2 and 3 were separated because it could have gotten very boring, but they avoided the problem well.Overall, it is a great album. I really enjoy it, and I recommend it to anyone who likes pop/soul music.

I <3 George Michael!!
I used to have this album when I was younger, but since the Netflix doc and Andrew Ridgeley's book, I had to buy this again. What a great person. Amazing songwriter. He just had the music in him! Elton John said he is one of the best songwriters! I agree. And so pretty!!

In hopes that George might read this: LOVE YOUR ALBUM! But..
(I write this review in hopes that George Michael himself might see it and handle a specific request I mention here which will make his already-classic album even better. Or at least *I* personally think so, anyway. I normally don't write reviews in such a fashion, but as I grew up listening to this man from the beginning it sort of feels like I'm dropping a note to an old friend in a way, if you know what I mean.)What's that, I hear everybody on here who loves this album to pieces as much as I do (and George as well?) say? Why am I only giving it four stars after I grew up with it, just as I have been growing up with this ingenious one-man music machine's material ever since "Bad Boys" hit the radio? Why give one less star to an album I rushed out to buy on its very first day of release and then proceeded to play to death for the rest of my life? Why do so when a song such as "Kissing A Fool" makes me break down and bawl like a child every single time I hear it simply due to its overwhelming beauty? How can I commit such an offense as to not give it five stars?Well, I must admit, rating it with only four *does* hurt me personally--it's a fun, beautiful, moving, moody and all-around breathtaking album starring the man whom I feel has the best male vocals in the business right now...(man, I would *die* to be able to sing like that!) ...but there's only one reason, and one reason alone, why I do not give it a full five. And I keep hoping and praying ("gotta have faith", if you will) that this reason might be changed... please bear with me as I explain...You see, before this album came out the notorious single "I Want Your Sex" was a hit--and it had a 12" extended single which I eagerly purchased as soon as I could get my hands on it. That extended single is, of course, parts 1, 2 and 3 combined in their entirety. Now, when the cassette (which was considered the big norm format in those days--the CD wasn't quite "huge" yet) was released, George decided to make the cassette even better by adding all three sections of "I Want Your Sex" as well as a remix of "Hard Day" (which weren't contained on the so-called "normal" vinyl version), thus balancing out the two cassette's sides into being as even in length each as possible. A great idea for the time, except for one thing... the third section of "I Want Your Sex" was lopped off from the rest of its two accompanying parts and placed instead at the end of side two. Now, of course, it could be argued that George wanted to make sure the album ended on a pleasant note if he couldn't end the album with "Kissing A Fool" with all the extras added, and I'm all for that. The man has the right to market his album the way he personally desires. But these days, with the CD now being the norm and everything, it simply no longer works--take it from me, the entire "I Want Your Sex" composition works best as a complete whole, and I never got used to its being "pieced up" in this manner--especially when "Part 2" ends with a fadeout ruining my favourite part of the whole portion! (The dramatic horn climax, that is. I would have accepted it much better if the fadeout had occured *after* that part had ended--during the moment when all you hear is the percussion.)So I keep hoping that maybe someday George will oversee a re-released version of this wonderful CD which will finally feature the whole "I Want Your Sex" composition in its entirety. Or even just releasing the extended single itself on CD would be fine if nothing else. But I still love your album, George. I really do, I cherish it just as I know I'll always continue to. But please... can something be done about the above sometime for us? It would be much appreciated.

One minor change made to this version.
The original album version of "Monkey" has been replaced by the single remix that was newly recorded in the summer of 1988 for the album's fifth single (If you count "I Want Your Sex Part 1"). I feel this remix is far superior to the original anyway so I've no problem with it. Of the first nine tracks on this album, seven were released as singles with four of them going to #1. If you liked the remixed version of "Monkey" you may want to give this slightly altered version of the original a try.

The 80' and 90's music is still my favorite
I've always really enjoyed his music. This seemed to be the best CD with all the songs I really enjoyed. I ordered this after watching a biography of him on TV.

Mai perdere mai la speranza
Ordine del 20/2/2019, arrivato oggi, 12/3/2020, in piena emergenza covid19. Il CD è incellofanato ed è inutile recensirlo. Qualcosa di bello in questo brutto periodo :)
