PackardPR340 DPDT 24 Volt Coil Switching Relay

The relay that I received was marked "Packard PR340" as per the description but it had four contacts on each side instead of three. The picture is not accurate. Initially upon receiving it I was disappointed - I searched for quite a while to find one with three contacts on each side since that was what I was replacing and expected that this part would not work.However, the "extra" bottom two contacts are duplicates of the coil contacts (perhaps for daisy-chaining additional relays?) and can be ignored or, if it doesn't fit in a sockets with them in place, etc., they could be removed to no ill effect. The relay fit into my socket without making any modifications and the extra contacts just sit exposed at the bottom. Not a concern, it's only 24v AC.The DPDT wiring is such that the top and middle left contacts are the common / input for the switch, the right contacts are normally open, and the center contacts are normally closed. The bottom two (or four as the case may be) are the coil contacts. The plastic housing is angled below the coil contacts.

I just want everyone to be aware that this is not HP rated. If you are wanting to use this as a duct inline relay than don’t waste your time. I’ve return 2 already thinking that I had a bad one. Also took voltage measurements it shows 120vac on the line side but the load side shows 84vac. This voltage measurement is the switching side of the relay.

Initially i bought total of 6 relay's, and installed most of them but one did fail within a week and was replaced. I didn't think I would buy any more however after 6 months of the remaining units working fine. I purchased 10 more and they appear to be working great for a thermostat interface. - It has now been 2 years and no more have failed.

Ordered two of these. Although the item works just fine, the item that was sent was not a Packard PR340 relay as advertised. Instead, generic relays manufactured in China were sent. The relays did work fine and we have heat again. The only reason for the 3 stars is because of the fact that the listing should have stated that replacement relays will be sent.

Perfect fit, holds the load. My furnace loved it !

This product was reasonably priced and arrived with zero hassle. I soldered the connections to the relay and it works like a champ but it could be plugged in if you have the right base. It has positions for normally-open and normally-closed.

Functionality works as expected. Makes a noisy buzz when the coil is energized with 24VAC. That's unacceptable for my application.
