You would need to repaint this latch when it shows signs of rusting. If you want a latch that will not rust you will need to buy one that is made of Galvanised metal and this will come in a silver colour. I hope this helps you. **Q: I’ve got one of these, fitted it and although it catches - it also uncatches with just a small nudge or a strong gust of wind. Have I fitted wrong?** A: Yes ours is the same, I have made a metal rod to go in the hole at the top to prevent it. Poor product in my humble opinion. **Q: What size padlock can i use with this?** A: One with a shackle diameter 5mm or less ## Frequently Bought Together - IRONTITE® Auto Gate Latch, Garden Gate Latch for Wooden Gates, Black Coated for Weather Protection, for External Use As Gate Latch & Door Latch (Black) - 2x 12" Tee Hinges, Shed Door Hinge, Gate Hinge, Black --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sn/products/246641515-auto-gate-latch-garden-gate-latch-for-wooden-gates-black](https://www.desertcart.sn/products/246641515-auto-gate-latch-garden-gate-latch-for-wooden-gates-black) --- *Product available on Desertcart Senegal* *Store origin: SN* *Last updated: 2026-10-20*
