What is the difference between the $19.99,1000 piece happy city puzzle & the $17.99,1000 limited edition happy city puzzle? they look the same to me.

There is no difference in the puzzle other than the price.

I bought mine from a used book store. How many pieces should the main puzzle piece have and how many should the surprise puzzle have?

I honestly didn't count the pieces, but assumed it was 1,000 pieces. Then there was still the additional surprise pieces.

When i shake the don’t open envelope i hear puzzle pieces in there. do I need to take those out to finish the puzzle?

This is a puzzle with a built in surprise. Totally complete the puzzle using the original bag of pieces. The puzzle will be complete and look exactly like the provided pictures. Then follow the directions and open the envelope. It will have directions and tell you what to do. I know you are curious, but just be patient and the surprise will be more mind-blowing and fun!
