Works great!
I do calligraphy almost daily. I have been using the PILOT calligraphy pens for many, many years and the quality is exceptional.

Seller is trying to sell this pen at 5x its value. Just search Amazon for the same pen for less than ten dollars.
This is a $8 pen that you can get on amazon as well as ANY other site with a simple search. Whoever is selling this pen for fifty dollars is trying to rip you off. It has a plastic body, plastic disposable ink cartridges, and replaceable nib. Granted, i LOVE pilot parallel pens and they are a MUST HAVE for any calligraphy enthusiast and extremely well made, this particular seller is showing very low moral fiber and a complete lack of ethics by charging 5x its value, hoping to scam somebody who is unaware of its real price - between 8 and 12 dollars, usually with free shipping or very low cost shipping as it weighs a few ounces. Just search Amazon for the same pen and save yourself over $40. Shame on this greedy seller. It wouldn't surprise me if there was something wrong with the pen, it was used, or if it didn't arrive at all, since anyone willing to scam people is such a blatant way obviously wouldn't care about their customers satisfaction. Buyer beware!

WAY overpriced
Do not buy this pen, as you can buy it for under $10 from other suppliers. Great pen, but not for that price.

I like this
I spent a while looking around for a relatively cheap calligraphy pen for writing Urdu. I have used this for a few days now and am quite happy with the results. I needed a fairly thin nib so I could write the script at a reasonable size (anything above 2mm and you need a ton of paper and the letter sizes make you feel like a 5 y/o). I have used this on 120 msg paper and there is some bleed through which I expected. Anything below 120 msg and there's too much bleed through such that you can only write on one side. I was sceptical about being able to use the pen at different angles (e.g. on it's side as per the instructions), but have had very good results so far. This was particularly important to me to ensure the accents, small markings etc looked right.I have marked it down slightly because the ink runs down very quickly. I have also bought some pilot converters and bottled ink to use with this as I don't want to buy plastic cartridges which are really not environmentally friendly. Hopefully it'll stand the test of time!

If only Bede had one, he'd have knocked out the History of the English People in half an hour.
Crumbs! These pilot parallel pens are the business. I've been struggling with wide nibs for many years trying to write large characters but now it's so easy. Get yourself a 2.4mm, a 3.8mm and a 6mm and all your calligraphy needs will be met. A fantastic feature is that just by turning the nib through 90 degrees it becomes a fineliner, delivering a perfect thin line in a very controlled manner.

Great pens, great quality for such a low price.
Excellent pens, I bought this along with a 6mm version too and a bottle of Pelikan highlighter ink. The highlighter ink is being used with the 6mm pen and it works brilliantly, allowing me to highlight notes in text books etc..This pen is obviously very wide also, though you can write with the edge of the nib for a fine line, although a little scratchy. This makes it pretty versatile. I have been using for practicing calligraphy and using it on cards and for headings etcThe pen can easily be covered to an eyedropper with just some silicon grease on the threads, but I have been using a cartridge which I refill using a syringe with my favourite bottle inks.

A lot of fun!
The Pilot Parallel pen is one of the weirdest pens I have used, but they are a lot of fun. There are so few pens that are as broad as the ones in this range, and it is simply fantastic at laying down a really broad strokes. Be aware that these pens need specific cartridges, but the cartridges are available in broad ranges of colours. They can also be eyedroppered, but that needs to be done with care.Overall, a lot of fun and at this price point any pen enthusiast should have at least one, if not more (I have three) in their collection.

Excellent for music lessons week in and week out.
I use this pen for day to day drum lesson music notation and writing. I've bought a few of them for different locations/due to loss and would buy again many more times. I've never had one die on me after hundreds of hours of use, get zero paper clogs and the pilot ink is easy to use - although it doesn't last a super long time, it's quite acceptable. You can write small using the corner of the nib easily enough. Highly recommended.
