I’ve used the following Schwarzkopf colors on my roots before: 1.8 Ruby Noir, 4.2 Mahogany Red, 5.29 Vintage Red, & 5.22 Ruby Red. The closest I’ve gotten to my desired result is 1.8 Ruby Noir, but it quickly fades to a red brick/brown after 2-3 washes. Was trying to go more cool toned. After reading the reviews of how burgundy/dark red this turns out, I decided to give it a try. It looks extremely dark purple, basically black on dark auburn roots. (As seen in attached picture: Top = Before, Bottom = After) Even after shampooing it with a clarifying shampoo, the color did not seem to fade. The color is not what I was expecting - it’s much darker than I thought it would turn out, but the product works as shown on the box and in the sample pictures. Will probably continue using clarifying shampoos to try fading the color more. Texture is soft as Schwarzkopf normally is. I tend not to use other brands because I feel Schwarzkopf does a good job at maintaining softness. Smell is also average for Schwarzkopf.
