So if you are getting them for narrow surfaces, yes, they will do he trick.If it is a larger surface you want to protect, you need to think of a combination of deterrents: spikes for the railings, the pitch machine for flat surfaces, and mesh/ chicken wire for nooks and crannies where they might roost.
