Sexy Handle Holder; but false advertising
If a handle holder can be sexy, this one is s e x y for sure. I love the old feel of a cast iron skillet and it just doesn't feel right slapping neon silicone around the handle to prevent burns. The leather is a beautiful color and fits snug onto most cast iron handles.I rated 4 stars rather than 5 because they branded the logo onto one side. I don't love having brands slapped on everything, and you'll notice they have no photos of that side of the handle holder...so...minus one start for false advertising.I have the logo facing down so I'm not subliminally advertised to with every use...it also feel more natural if right handed. However, for those lefties out there....you'll just have to deal with it.

Love it
I love this little leather skillet holder. I have used it on a #10, #8, and #6 size skillet, no issues, fit them with ease.At first, its a little tough, like all leather, after some bacon grease hit it, it softened right up.It protects from the heat well, I got the skillet ripping hot in the oven, about 450 degrees, and slid this on, and was able to transfer it to the stove with no issue.I would definitely not leave this on in the oven though, that would defeat the purpose. It would heat up, and then be hot to the touch also.I like it better than the silicone style handle covers, and the cotton ones. The cotton ones if they get wet, they are done, and can not be used until they dry back out, the silicone ones, I can not seem to ever get a decent enough grip on them, no issues like that with this one.The leather also seems to jive with the cast iron skillet style as well, handmade, and a little more rugged looking. The only thing I would change, possibly make it a little longer, a little thicker, or add some sheep wool or something of that nature on the inside.

Beautiful, but not that useful
This is a beautiful leather handle -- sturdy, well-crafted, good looking.I don't find it that useful, though. I hold the pot with either hand as I cook, and this one is only comfortable to pick up from one side --the rounded side, not the edged side. It's also very slender, so it only fits some of my cast iron skillet handles, not others--and the ones it does fit, it's snug.I'm going to have to stick with the heavy fabric handle covers.

Compliment magnets
I've bought three of these as separate purchases and have been using them for almost a year. They're not perfect but overall I'm pleased with them.I needed a good cast iron handle cover and I don't like the fabric ones, they get too gunky too easily. I tried the silicone ones and didn't like them either, they didn't provide a secure grip (handle would move around inside them) and they had limited effectiveness as a heat insulator. These leather ones are better.Pros:- sheepskin lining creates a double-layer design- durable double-stitching- You can leave them on the pan during the entire stovetop cook, not just while handling it (note they are NOT oven-safe)- Secure grip- Easy to clean- Very attractive; whenever I post pics of my cooking in cast iron, people compliment them and ask where I got themCons -- Slightly inconsistent. I only notice this because I have three to compare. One's a little larger, one's a little smaller. One's a little thicker, one's a little thinner. They all work but they're not all perfectly identical. I understand they're handmade but I would expect less variation.- The opening can shrink. I've really only had this problem with one of them, my oldest one. It may have gotten a little wet at some point or maybe it's just the heat. Don't know if it's the leather drying out or the stitching around the opening shrinking or both. Regardless, it still goes on and comes off the handle, just takes a little bit more effort. What I've started doing is occasionally refreshing the leather near the opening with the same food-grade mineral oil I use to maintain my end-grain cutting board. I believe regular maintenance like this may prevent the shrinkage in the first place. In general I've yet to find a better handle cover, though, and I would buy these again.

My dad loved it!!
Gave this product to the King of Cast Iron himself, my dad, for Father’s Day. He absolutely loved it! He knew exactly what it was and put it on his pan he was currently cooking breakfast with (see picture). My mom thought it was an eye glass case, but my dad knew immediately what it was. My dad also said a few things about it: “oh wow this fits on every one of my pans!” “This is real leather, wow this is great quality. Good find!” “I might need some more of these.” And finally “now I just need one that wraps around my lodge cast iron lid that I use to push the bacon down with.” Needless to say, my dad loved it and anyone who uses cast iron regularly will too.

Measure your skillet handle prior to ordering
Probably well enough made but they need to show it with a normal size 10 and 12 inch skillets not the small one they show it with. It will not fit around my lodge skillet My bad I didn't measure as I made assumptions based on the picture. I have a skillet in storage that I use outside that it may fit so I will not return. Just make sure and measure before purchasing

Holds onto Lodge cast iron pan tightly and shouldn't slip off.
I have an old #8 Lodge cast iron skillet. I used to use cloth pot holders, but they would catch fire if they were too close to the burner. Leather holder is sturdy and comfortable enough for my rough hands. It is tricky removing it from the pan handle when moving the hot pan from burner to stove (for broiling). This action takes another hand with a pot holder to hold the pan as you pull off the leather potholder before putting it in the hot oven. This is a minor nuisance, and I'd rather it not slip off when using it on the stove. The other minor issue is that since it is leather, I recommend taking it off before you wash the pan so it won't get wet, thus requiring you to fully cool the pan first, or switch to another pot holder. It is fine, but I still also use cloth pot holders on my other skillets and pans, Lodge makes some that are good enough.

with Lodge pan handles there can't be any proper handle holder
It saves you from burning your hands but that's about all. I wouldn't say it's very practical but then, to be honest, with Lodge pan handles there can't be any proper handle holder. It doesn't sit tight on the handle, and since the iron cast pans are incredibly heavy it's not safe to carry a hot pan around in this wobbly handle holder. I only use it on the stove and need to make sure that the burner is not too big to not burn the whole thing. But to be fair, while writing this, I realise it's not so much the leather holder I'm not content with but rather with the Lodge pan. I would not buy it again (the pan that is - and therefore not the leather holder either).

Great addition to any cast iron pan/skillet.
I have a Lodge cast iron pan, after numerous meals, and a considerable amount of burns later, i decided it would a good idea to invest in this leather handle holder. This holder certainly looks the part. It fits snuggly on to the handle, and i find it is still supple enough to eliminate you holding the pan handle awkwardly. This item was reasonably priced and a great buy for anyone that uses cast iron pans on a regular basis. It's hard wearing and very durable, the heat is non existent through the leather which is why i am thinking of adding the Leather Pot Holder to my kitchen arsenal next. Very happy with the quality of this product, and the business card was a superb personal touch.I would definitely recommend this others.

and it fits both skillets very nicely. The only thing I'd had to say are ...
Just bought this for my Lodge 3 litre / 3.2 quart Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Combo Cooker , and it fits both skillets very nicely. The only thing I'd had to say are the stitches that gets a bit in the way when grabbing the handle (this leather, for obvious reason, is quite tough).Otherwise I've been leaving it on when cooking, and had no problem with it becoming too hot to handle. All in all, looks great and does it's job. Good buy. Lodge 3 litre / 3.2 quart Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Combo Cooker

Highly recommended
Took a couple of weeks to arrive but well worth the wait. Beautifully presented high quality product. I have bought two of these now. One is used for a cast iron skillet and the other for a cast iron griddle which protects yours hands from the heat and they look awesome too.
