I bought this candle as a holiday gift for my father who is from South Bend, IN. He left at 18 to become and Marine and been in Southern California for the past 30 years after the move. I thought he would appreciate the nostalgia that the candle represented. However, having grown up there, he actually teared up upon smelling the candle. He identified the fields he played in as a kid, the smell of fresh hay, and the state's iconic corn fields. I think this candle meant more to him than I ever intended, and I highly recommend it for anyone who is a long way from "home".

This was on my wife's wishlist forever, and she bought it for us as an anniversary gift, because I was born in Indiana. The fact that I'm even taking the time to write a review on Amazon should, I hope, communicate just how much I dislike this candle. I like candles. I like them a lot. They're like little fireplaces I can put on my desk. This candle isn't worth your money. It's stupidly overpriced. Don't expect to actually smell any sort of scent at all from this candle, unless you stick your nose in to it after blowing it out. And even then, it just smells like, I don't know, generic stuff? Roses maybe? If you're buying for someone who likes candles, I'd advise skipping this one and just getting a Woodwick, which I think are great candles: well-priced, long lasting, with good scents. If you're buying as a gift because it's a State they have some attachment to, and you don't expect them to ever use it, I guess it's a thoughtful thing to give; but you might as well give them a coaster with a print of their State instead. Essentially, it's cute, it has a State on it; but it just isn't a very good candle at all. It seems to burn for a very long time, but that's about it. From a candle lover's perspective, it also has a boring glass shape and a plain white color. This is meaningless if the scent is good; but as I said, there is no scent. You'd need ten of these burning in a house with no other distracting smells (like you'd have in a house) in order to get a pleasantly lingering scent. I'd rather have two or three Woodwick Frasier Firs than this candle.
