Yes it will fit. And it had room for other gold gear. Pinpointer. Small gold pan and scoop. And what wlse you ban put in there. I was surprised how big it is. Works great.

Q: Is this case approved by the airlines?

Each airlines is different and have different rules or policies. This is a soft case, not a hard case. I'm not sure I would put my detector in this case and check it along with the other luggage. This can be used as a carry-on, but I'm not sure if taking a detector as a carry on is ok with your specific airlines because of the rechargable batteries. Again, you should call your airlines and discuss with them.
