No I did not use a spanner wrench to put the hoses together.

is the discharge hose heavy duty?

This hose is heavy duty for the homeowner but light duty for industry standards....this question is relative to the job / project that is being used for!

if the 50' discharge hose isn't long enough are you able to attach another similar hose with the fittings that are on the blue hose in this package?

Yes as long as the additional hose(s) have the same connectors. Some hoses have the quick connect style connectors and other have threaded connectors. The blue discharge hose I received has the quick connect style connectors.

Are the adapters used to go from the 2" npt pump suction and discharge outlets to the camlock hose connections?

Yes,they connect cam lock style.
