Kaweco Sport Fountain Pen Brass Nib: EF

At the time of purchase, the Kaweco Brass Sport fountain pen cost half as much on Amazon than other respected stationary stores. That isn't why I purchased it through Amazon. It is why I almost didn't. When it comes to fountain pens, I would rather pay full price for quality control. This, and some of the Amazon reviews made me a bit nervous. In the end, I decided to risk it because I am horribly impatient, and Amazon promised to deliver it super fast. I was completely prepared to return it if it did not write properly. However, my pen wrote beautifully right out of the box. The extra fine nib writes incredibly smooth. It's not the least bit scratchy. Compared to my other Kaweco fountain pens, this one is a bit weighty, but I enjoy the additional weight. It feels balanced when capped. Unlike some of the other reviewers, my pen caps without issue. And my pen did come with Kaweco gift tin. I also purchased the Kaweco Mini Fountain Pen Converter from the same seller. I currently have it inked with Private Reserve Ebany Brown, which I mainly use on Tomoe River paper of my Hobonichi planner. It writes well on Rhodia paper as well. This is a lovely little writer. Definitely worth the price, imo. I am very happy with this purchase.

Best pen ever. For the price, getting a solid brass pen with this much quality is a steal! The fine nib works great for me as the ink dries faster. I am a lefty so I NEED to have a quick drying solution. I've used this with Kaweco's black and caramel brown ink and have loved both. The black flowed a little heavy, but the brown is perfect. I carry this pen in my pocket everyday and it works perfectly. It has patinaed perfectly as well, looks so cool!

As someone who has used a "normal" Kaweco Sport (the plastic-y version) for a couple of years, this was definitely worth it. This pen is made out of real metal (and there is some thickness to the metal) so it has some decent heft to it. The cap posts nicely, though it requires a bit more pressure to get it to seat tightly and stay put. The nib is a true Extra Fine and the feed flows smoothly without wasting ink. Overall, the balance (both with and without the cap posted) feels just about right to me, and the extra weight actually gives good feedback to help you write without pressing as firmly as you might with lighter pens. One of my chief gripes with the plastic-y Kaweco Sport was its weight (or lack thereof) — this pen is definitely a lot more substantial, and I like that. However, if your hands aren't as used to moving around this much weight, it might be more fatiguing. For me, it feels just right. The brass does collect fingerprints / lose its brilliance over time. It's brass. If you want it to be shiny, you'll probably have to polish and care for it, but personally I love the look of it as it gets slightly dulled. Overall, it's a fantastic pen. If you love the normal Kaweco Sport but you wish it was made out of metal and had more substance to it, then this is the pen for you.

This has to be my favorite fountain pen in my collection, not just for its distinctive design and handsome patina it has quickly acquired, but for the writing experience. I like the weightiness of the Kaweco Sport, and the size is perfect for my small handwriting. The nib is truly extra fine, which I personally prefer. The nib is easily customizable. For aesthetic reasons, I swapped out the stainless steel nib with a gold one for a personalized uniform “brassy” appearance. The ink flow is consistent when high quality ink is used. I stayed away from using the stock Kaweco ink, which can be quite thick and prone to clogging, in my experience. I instead went with Montblanc cartridges, non-permanent, as well as Noodler’s Heart is Darkness. I have been so impressed with this pen that I purchased replacement nibs of different widths. This pen has proven easy to customize with these replacements. I've never had issues with false starts or skipping after I found the pen's "sweet spot", but must find the correct ink, especially with the extra fine nib. The thickness of the barrel makes long writing sessions comfortable, even with my lateral tripod pen grip. The octagonal cap is useful for preventing the pen from rolling away on my desktop. I do not have any issues with the plastic inner ring that prevents the cap from slipping away, nor have I had any issues with the cap sliding off while posted. I chose the raw brass both for its appearance and its anti-microbial properties as a copper alloy. While using a copper alloy pen is no substitute for correct hand washing, with the ongoing pandemic the antimicrobial properties of the raw, unlacquered brass on this Kaweco Sport is an added plus.

The EF nib I had on the brass simply didn’t put out enough ink. Might have been user error. I ended up going with the Steel Sport EF as I bought one as a gift and then noticed it worked better than the Brass Sport EF I had. Otherwise a high quality pen and quite heavy. Mine with a cartridge was 45 grams

Been using this pen daily for a while now, and I am VERY happy with it. Mine has the F nib, and filled with noodler’s eel black ink, it makes a crisp stroke that still dries quick enough to use in a journal (so you can close the cover without messing up what you just wrote). Ink flow is enough to support a quick writing style without leaving pools of ink on the paper. Also, for those considering a fountain pen, these can be used on thermal paper, like charge receipts, where ball point pens just don’t write well. The brass gives this pen a heft, but that means very little pressure is needed for writing. I also ordered a pkg of black ink cartridges, and they came, but with one of them inside the barrel of the pen, rather than as a full box + the one that should come with the pen – not good. To address some of the questions that have been asked: Yes, it came with a nice tin box. No, it will not accept standard converters, you must purchase the proprietary one. I recommend you buy syringes from your pharmacist at $.25 each and re-fill the cartridges. Yes, the brass quickly develops a patina – if you prefer the bright brass look, you can use Brasso to quickly shine it up, just keep it away from the nib. No, I’ve had no problems with the cap. Cap screws on securely when not being used. But I don’t post caps, since I have ruined several expensive pens over the years doing that.

Disappointing Experience – Not as Advertised ​I was looking forward to using this pen, but the experience has been a letdown. It arrived today, and immediately I noticed several issues: ​False Packaging. It was supposed to come in a tin, but arrived in a box that opened up on the way to me because it was already outside of its box. ​Poor quality, seems someone used it and the ink cartridge was installed backward which caused it to leak. ​Not Worth the "Savings": While the lower price point is tempting, it’s not a deal when the product is unusable and missing components. ​After reading other reviews, it seems like these quality control issues are a recurring pattern. I’m currently attempting a replacement, but save yourself the hassle. You’re better off spending the full $90 elsewhere to ensure you actually get the quality and the accessories you're paying for. Don't buy this.

Best writing pen I have ever owned. Always writes. No "getting it going".

Kaweco Sport'un, çelik, alüminyum, pirinç ve plastik ürünlerine değişik uç ve renklerde sahibim. Bu, ikinci BRASS SPORT "EF" uçlu siparişim. Yine Orijinal metal kutusunda ve çok iyi bir uçla geldi. BRASS SPORT (EF) ve STEEL SPORT (M) ' u dışarıda eskiz çalışırken yanıma alıyorum. Pantolon (kot) cebinde taşırken ağırlığı nedeni ile varlığını hissettirmesi kaybetme, unutma endişemi azaltıyor. Mürekkep haznesi bir standart olmakla birlikte küçüklüğü benim için hiç sorun değil. Kartuşları şırınga ile dolduruyorum. En çok kullandığım 2 rengin yedek kartuşlarını dışarı çıkarken yanıma almam yeterli oluyor. Özellikle pirinç, çelik ve alüminyum olanların, ancak sert metallerle vurarak zarar verebileceğiniz kısmı sadece damak ve ucu olacaktır. Tüm modellerin uçları, damakları ile set olarak ayrıca satıldığı için ömürlük kullanıma sahiptirler. Plastik, alüminyum ve çelik modellerini de değişik mürekkep ve uç kombinasyonları ile kullanıyorum. Elim küçük değil. Buna rağmen kapağı ile kullandığımda büyüklüğü bana göre ideal. Başka 2-3 bilinen marka kalemim olmasına rağmen her zaman tercih ettiklerim Kaweco'lar oluyor. Pirinç 1. tercihim olsada hepsinin verdiği keyif başka. Sadece 1 kalem kullanmam gerekirse Kawco'nun herhangi bir sport modelini tercih ederim. ( En ağırından (brass) en hafifine doğru sırayla 1 er adet alırdım. Sonra 1 er daha, sonra... :) Tavsiye ederim.

Bardzo lubię to piórko. Malutkie po złożeniu, po założeniu skuwki jest wygodne i dość ciężkie (ja to lubię). Noszę przy swojm planerze/kalendarzu na codzień
