The truth is the peace fits the centerpiece is not plastic like the original one so meaning that if you have not resolved your issue properly trying to get it off later might be an issue me I had no problems I resolved all the issues with the machine and continued using it it still it works fine to this date

If you need to use a shim anywhere in a washing machine they're called horseshoe shims they're plastic they come in different sizes I don't know where you'll find them try home Depot
