The lighter shade is the color when it has been fired onto bisque before being glazed the brighter darker shade is after you put clear glaze over it and fire again.

Yes ,you are right about that ,I have this white underglaze ,it looks like it’s not covering but when it drys it totally is white ,shows up well and stays when glazed
