4 years and still going strong, happy as ever
Edit: It's been 8 years, and this trusty little bin has been going strong since the day I got it! Unfortunately, while moving to a new house today, I dropped it. It was full of rice, and finally died - a long crack down the side. So here I am back on Amazon, minutes after that tragedy, reordering the exact same bin again. Here's to another 8 years of rice storage happiness! Amazon tells me I bought this bin in Nov 2016, and it still looks brand new. I use it regularly and have been very happy with it. I can add a 15 lbs bag of rice to it in one go with a lot of room to spare; it will fit 22 lbs and could probably fit 25 lbs if I took out the sliding rice/cup holder. Yes, it is a little pricey, but you're paying for the extremely well-thought-out design, not just a box of plastic. Rice is very important in Asian cultures, and you can bet that the Japanese put a lot of effort into the design and functionality: - 2 wheels in the back allow you to (nearly) effortlessly slide the bin to the front of your cabinet space, and then hide it away again. I can move that 15 lbs of rice around with a couple of fingers, and I really like that. - The hinged lid allows you to get at the rice in the bin *without removing the entire lid*. This "access panel" approach means that I don't have to completely remove the bin from the cabinet to create enough space to open the bin, nor do I need to find a safe/clear place on my kitchen counters to place a lid. I have a tiny kitchen, so this is a real space-saving design element that I love love love. - The bin comes with a measuring cup with a flattened side and both metric and standard measurements on it. Fill the cup until heaping, then slide off the excess; when the rice is completely level to the brim, you have exactly 1 cup. The cup has a flattened side (this makes the opening kind of look like the capital letter "D") that allows you to easily scrape the bottom of the bin to get every last grain of rice. So genius! By the way, never add fresh rice on top of old rice in the bin. The two rices cook slightly differently, so if you mix them you might end up with undercooked/overcooked rice in one batch. Which is why ... - The bin also comes with a sliding measuring cup/rice holder. This "mini-bin" allows you to store the last bit of your old rice separately while immediately putting fresh rice in the main bin. Most of the time I use it just to store my measuring cup, though. It slides completely out of the way to allow me to easily get my rice. It's nice to have but not strictly necessary. - The bin itself holds 22 lbs of rice. I've saved a ton of money buying 15 lb bags of rice from the Asian market (where there's a huge selection and always a sale on a couple of different brands) vs the overpriced 2-5 lb bags from the grocery store (that used to flop over and spill all over my cupboard). Costco does sell rice in 20 and 25 lb bags as well. We are a two-person household who eats rice 2-3x/week, and the 15 lb bags are easy to carry from the store and last a good while for us (2-3 months?). If you eat rice with any regularity, a dedicated, well-designed rice bin will save you money and headaches in the long run. - Some reviewers have complained about bugs still getting into their rice. I suspect that those reviewers have been storing brown rice, which sometimes just comes from the store with bugs/bug eggs already hidden in it (especially if they buy from poorly sealed bulk bins at a natural grocery store). I have been using my bin in Florida for 4 years and have never gotten any bugs in my bin. I think that if you just use white rice and eat it regularly, you'll do fine with this bin. But if you prefer brown rice, or have a persistent bug problem, you should probably pick a different rice bin with an airtight seal. Honestly, the only "improvement" I could think of was to add standard measurements to the outside of the main bin (it only shows kg). But when you never use the measurements on the bin anyway, what's the point? The bin is see-through, so when you're running low, just buy another 15 lb bag of rice. Bottom line, the bin is more expensive than a generic plastic box, but you get a lot of practical, well-designed features that provide many quality-of-life improvements. It's like the Honda or Toyota of rice bins. After 4 years, my bin still looks brand new and shows no sign of wear and tear, so I feel like it'll last forever. And let's not forget that this bin basically pays for itself with bulk rice purchase savings. This bin has never failed me, and if it melted in a kitchen fire tomorrow (god forbid), I would definitely purchase this again.

Overpriced, but very good at its job.
Perfectly balanced between minimalism and utility. Don't love the USD$30 price tag, though. It's sized to store a good amount of rice, yet not so heavy to make it difficult to move. (The wheels do help with sliding it in and out of cabinet--easy to do one-handed.) It may not be air tight, but good enough to keep the pantry moth out. The internal sliding tray and measuring cup don't seem like much, but they are handy and useful. Logical, really. If you eat rice frequently but not so much that you buy those giant 25 lb bags, this is the perfect storage bin. (If you DO buy in 25 lb or larger bag, you need a stationary system that takes up a corner instead of a bin that tucks away in a cabinet. And obviously, if your rice consumption only warrens 1 lb bags, this bin would be an overkill.)

Great product
This is exactly what I want it. Japanese product is best! There are even tiny wheels on the bottom to smooth pull out.

I have used this for about 1.5 month
There isn't really much to say about this product, it is a storage container and I use it for rice. My house gets bugs in the summer and fall, and those bugs like to go into my rice bag and that is why I bought this. The lid definitely prevent bugs from going in and it comes with a cup to measure how much rice you want to cook. This only reason it is not a 5 star is because of the price. For a plastic container, this is relatively expensive especially it really isn't that big. If this thing was 10-15 dollars, I would give it a 5 star, but unfortunately it is not and there aren't many options on amazon.

Easier access to rice
This container is quality made. Itโs not airtight but I donโt have bug problems in my house. I got the 22 lbs and it holds the 25 bag of rice perfectly. I keep it in the bottom cupboard and this container makes it so much easier to scoop the rice out with the included scooper. It sure is an upgrade from the Rubbermaid containers which I had to use 3 to hold all the rice from the 25 lbs. I would recommend 22 lbs for people that eat a lot of rice and the smaller one for people who eat fair amount. I just love it ๐โ๏ธ

Clown Car of Rice
Perfect solution for storing a huge bag of rice. It's small and thin and holds way more rice than it looks possible of containing, it is like the Clown Car of Rice! I poured in a 15 pound bag of basmati and still have almost a third of the container free. The removable top makes it easy to pour in rice directly from the bag - no scooping, no spilled rice grains all over the kitchen. The bin is frosted clear so I can see how much rice I have left w/out opening the container and know when I need to buy more.

The best part of my pantry
This thing is AWESOME. Say goodbye to the days of a massive sack of rice in the pantry that's unsturdy and difficult to bring out. I love rolling this thing and proudly making rice after scooping out from this bin. It's extremely sturdy, the perfect size (fits a 25lb bag of rice), and looks fantastic!
