Are these ink sticks made with the soot of burnt car tires? Are the binding agents plaster or animal glue?

These ink sticks are made of burn pine branches with atural bone glue or oxhide gelatin.. Not car tires. without any plaster.

How to use the stick? Do you also need a tray?

You need an ink stone. Optional is an ink stick rest, to place the wet ink stick between grindings. Amazon has plenty of ink stones, most of good to better quality. Not so many ink stone rests that are moderately priced any way.

My stick has a strong petroleum scent? What are the ingredients that may cause it? It smells toxic

I’ve use this product often and noted only a mild burnt pine sort of smell. My “go to” stick used in both the studio and in the field.

Is the ink safe for tattoos?

No. It is intended for writing and painting only.
