I have a few unopened from last year that have been in my desk.** A: I would open those outside then. It would probably be stinky when you open them since they have been refrigerated **Q: What liquid is used to preserve these?** A: Not sure, but here is what I did... because I received the oysters a week before my event I placed them in the refrigerator to keep them from spoiling or getting a bad smell. No liquids were added.
