Hi, its a very hot oven 450°C which burns and stains (they are unmovable) very fast. The top hotplate gets hot but not like a proper tandoor. So in answer to your question its possible but I now use an instant charcoal grill for most of my tandoor cooking. Its a great Pizza oven but you have to cook the base first on the top otherwise it remains soggy and uncooked

Does it have both lower and upper heating element

Put a pizza stone inside the oven. It works great for naan breads.
