LOVE. THIS. COAT.
Cant say enough good things about this coat. I received yesterday along with the Bootlegger hat. Received on time and I should mention, just in time out here in Worcester County, MA, where we had another strange storm or as we call it, a wintry mix, which means heavy sleet, snow and freezing rains, accompanied by unpredictable winds. One thing I noticed right away is the heft of the coat and while it did take a few minutes to figure out the buttons, it was as if I was wrapped in an oilskin cocoon. The rain just doesn't get in, regardless of how hard its blowing, regardless of how nasty the sleet is. buttoned up all the way and secure under the hat, I was pretty much impervious to the elements. I will likely get the liner in the near future, but overall, I was pretty warm under the skin. Price - about what I expected to pay - locally at a Cabellas, this ran for 160-180...paying instead 124, I was happy. Normally I never buy a lot of clothing online because I prefer to see it up close first, but the lack of availability here in the Northeast (its just not cowboy country) prompted me to go the Amazon route and I couldn't be happier. This is a very unique coat and like the hat, if you're in a region that isn't used to the whole country look, you will get some stares and confused faces, but once you get past that, you realize you're wearing something that is not only an awesome looking garment, but one that is weatherproof - I'd much rather wear this than a PCoat or rain coat - its just that cool. Adding to the cool factor is its ruggedness. While not something one would wear as formal wear, its definitely going to be at home in my truck as an all purpose garment. I work in construction and can easily see this working on job sites in the rain and snow - its just that good. I read a lot of complaints about the coat having a smell to it and there's a faint, almost leatherlike smell to it - personally, I dig it. The pockets are generous and many and again, once you get used to the buttons, its a pretty weatherproof affair that you'll see the value in immediately. I plan to probably buy another one as well as their shorter length coats.

Worth the price.
I bought this coat one size too large (I'm 6'5" tall) expecting to need it sized a bit larger than normal to fit over my normal coat for winter months. I ended up with a coat that is a perfect fit when worn as my only outside layer. It is little bit snug when used as an overcoat. The sleeve length is perfect for my height, and the bottom of the coat hangs about 3 inches below my knees. I like the ability to cinch in the waist and the inside liner is more comfortable than I was expecting. The coat seems to be well constructed and durable. It holds up to the (sometimes) heavy rain we can get in November in the Pacific Northwest. I noticed right away that after an hour of continuous heavy rain that I can "feel" a little moisture and coolness building up on the top of my shoulders. It's not bad, but something I noticed. On arrival the coat has a oily residue coating the outside. I've been wearing the coat for a few days and that residue is either being washed off by being in the rain all the time or it is evaporating when I dry the coat off. I'm happy with this product. It is a lot classier than my old poncho was, and it is keeping me a lot drier! Looks great when paired with the Kodiak 1480 Oilskin hat.

Good raincoat. Very pleased. Keeping it.
I am 5'7', 160 pounds. I was reluctant to buy the coat because I struggled to decide if I should get a small or a medium. Also, some of the reviewers said the coat was oily and needed to hang outside for a while, and some said the snaps were dodgy. Discussed it with a family member and finally pulled the trigger. I bought a medium because I will probably wear something underneath it. Was nervous, because buying clothes without trying on is risky. Got the coat and was very pleased with my purchase. It is NOT oily, so that was good. The length is good for a 5'7' person (I contemplated the other coat that was 3" longer) so that is good. The snaps were intact and working properly, so that was good. And, most importantly, I like the fit. I will be able to layer in the rain, and use the coat in cooler weather. So I am very pleased with the purchase.

Good Jacket
First I want to say I like the Duster very much. I got a large, the same as all my other jackets, and it fits really good until I put the liner in it and then it is just a tad bit small. I would like it a little more rooms, with the liner, but I'm afraid if I went to an XL it would be to big with out the liner. With all that said half the people I asked said looks great and half the people I asked said maybe a tad bit small. I will keeping it and will cut out the ice cream for awhile. I read that the Liner sheds a lot and that is true. I also read, on the tag of the liner, that it is machine washable so I am going to give that a try. 01/08/17 I have had the jacket a while now and love it. I have reviled it once, with the recommended Duck Oil (read my review), and could not be happier. As far as the liner goes I have two comments: 1. After washing it the shedding has all but stopped. 2. I had a friend, that sews, remove the collar and put a matching edging material around the cut edge. I did this because : A. I have a large beard and the collar with the beard was not a good combination. B. The collar would get wet then rub my face while all cold and wet.

Heck of a coat!
Before purchasing this coat from Amazon, I was able to go to one of the many (I reside in Texas) western stores in town and try it on to get the sizing correct. Obviously I would suggest doing the same if you have the option. I am normally between a medium and a large, but I found that a small actually fit me best. This is certainly because the coat is sized to be layered, making it a little larger than normal. Since it doesn't get that cold around here, the size down is perfect if you aren't planning on wearing anything too thick underneath it. When the coat arrived (quickly as usual) it was saturated in oil (as designed) and smelling pretty foul (oil side effect) requiring me to hang it outside for a about a week. Finally the excess oil had dried away (taking the foul odor with it) leaving me with an awesome brown duster that is crazy waterproof. I removed the cape, to get away from the Van Helsing look, and what I am left with is a rather unique looking coat that I can't wait to wear once winter rolls around. I will say this is a pretty bold fashion item. If you are the type to feel embarrassed or anxious wearing something outside of the norm this probably isn't for you. If you like to stand out, have a thing for classic/badass styles, or simply don't care this is a very good option for a long coat. I personally cannot attest to its durability, but it seems to be solidly crafted. There are plenty of reviews here from people that use these for the kind of work they were intended for (ranching etc) and have raved about them. I expect it to last for quite some time.

Fantastic coat, but a little big
The quality of the coat is absolutely stunning. Very good fibers, nice and thick, it has a great weight and feel to it. After trying it on, it felt very good and the feel of the material is definitely what you would expect from an "oilskin" jacket, such that even my fingers felt slightly tacky/greasy when handling the material for too long. This wasn't a problem when just putting on or taking off the jacket, but be very careful about extended contact between two materials, such the seat of your car. I am personally in-between sizes Small/Medium for most of my clothing, but generally I err on the side of Medium as a relaxed fit is more comfortable to me than a tight fit. Even according to the size guide, the Medium was the same size as my jeans, and any fitted shirts I've purchased which use inch-based sizing. However, the cut and style of this coat is very large and billowy anyway, so with the Medium I had at least 3 inches of excess fabric on each side of my hips, and the arm length was so long that it completely covered the palms/backs of my hands, and knuckles, even with my arms stretched out, making me feel like a little kid in his dad's clothes. I have to reiterate though, that I do love the coat, and will instead be buying the Small version of it as, according to their sizing chart, that trims about 4 inches off the waist, and an inch off the arm-length, which should be about perfect. I really did not want to do a return/exchange as this jacket was absolutely everything I expected in texture, weight, feel, and color. It even has extra straps on the bottom that you can snap around your pant legs, to keep the coat from flapping and billowing in a stiff breeze. I can't wait to receive my Small sized one, and try it out in a downpour. Absolutely will recommend it to others, it is worth every penny.

Great doing business, 10/10 would buy again
Quick ship; literally 16 hours. Had to rely on unisex size chart as described on the vendorโs website, Iโm 170cm slim athletic build and XS was excellent and as close to my frame since I wear M calvin klein outerwear(38-40โ), ordering based on the amazon size chart would have been way too big. Waxy on the fingers but very functional against freezing rain; material is quality and tough. Winter is really like 2 seasons long in Canada and I never wear a hat or hood, so this is perfect for me. I live in the city where fashion designer coats dominate so this really stands out for something that's functional. I get the occasional school shooter jokes but whatever this isn't the States. Guess it adds to the coat's badassery lol Got the Low Rider instead of the Stockman because it was the only one that came in XS, and plus it looks stiffer. I don't know if I'd want to be arsed to spend double on the Stockman for the extra 3" since it looks good anyway and also the prices for Canada is ridiculous. I might get one for my best friend too since he really likes it.

Looks great and keeps the rain out properly
I love this coat. The style is exactly what I wanted, but the best thing is how well it performs in wet weather. I use it when walking the dogs in the rain, and it is incredibly good at keeping me dry. The full-length design gives much better coverage than a normal jacket, and the oilskin material feels tough and protective without being awkward to wear. It also has the kind of classic outdoor look that makes it feel like something I will keep using for years. It is worth checking the sizing carefully, especially if you want room for layers underneath, but overall this is an excellent wet-weather coat and very easy to recommend.

Coats with attitude
My second one of these coats. The first one I wore for about 25 years, which is still in great condition, however it no longer fits. So I bought this new one and I love wearing it just as much as the older one. I remember watching the old cowboy movies and the guys were wearing similar coats, at the time I thought these coats had so much attitude, that is probably why I love them so much.
