Question 1

Does this control the load in any way? Dusk to dawn?

Accepted Answer

The short answer is yes but your question makes me think that you actually don’t know what the load connections are used for. Depending on your application you may not even need to use the load connections. I use the controller between the panels and a battery that only needs to supply power to an RV water pump. The pump simply connects directly to the battery and since it only runs intermittently has little chance of discharging the battery. The load connection are used when there is a small but continuous load such as a 12 v lamp that would run down the battery when there is no solar power charging the battery, such as overnight. In that case the load circuit shuts off the bulb if the battery voltage gets too low, preventing
battery damage.

Question 2

What is the current draw that the controller itself has?
Will the controller itself drain the battery?

Accepted Answer

Very minimal, like anything if left long enough it will drain a battery, smaller batteries drain faster but I haven't had any noticeable change in battery life since connecting this in my teardrop.

Question 3

Can I use this with a 12V solar panel for a deer feeder? Thanks

Accepted Answer

Yes you can. It's an intelligent controller and auto-adjusts to the battery voltage. See the description below:
UPGRADED SOLAR PANEL CONTROLLER: Compatible with 12V 24V system. This solar charge controller helps you manage the working of solar panels and battery in solar systems automatically with the build-in industrial microcontroller. You don't need to reset it when the battery runs out cause it will memorize various parameters set by the user. You can also charge your mobile phone, tablet, PCs through Dual USB output 5V/2.5A (max).

Question 4

Does anyone know what the 601 602 battery type settings means?

Accepted Answer

Not sure. Unit is for 12 volt system.
Suggest use Trojan T-1275 battery.
