Ridenour Professional ATG Reed Finishing System (Standard)

This is the first system I have come across, which systematically deals with the problem of trimming clarinet reeds. The results seem to be really stisfactory.

Materials are not worth the asking price. Book is poorly written and organized. Better reed fixing advice available for free online in sax forums.

Guide is well written and full of useful information. DVD material is concise and clearly presented. First reed was unplayable before using the ATG system. Played nicely after using only Step 1.

It's good, but it won't give you that "perfect reed" feel; I've had a perfect reed and when I used this it wasn't a "perfect", but it's still good. However, to make it close to perfect read theses two books: Perfect a Reed... and Beyond by Ben Armato and Handbook for Making and Adjusting Single Reeds-Revised Edition by Kalmen Opperman. So basically it's like a violin ATG is the peg and the books are the fine tuners.

I didn't want to believe in yet another reed miracle device. However, this did as promised. It is pricey, but so are reeds. And if this saves you time and ultimately money, it is worth the hefty price tag. Plus the video is full of very useful ideas and tips.

Absolutely phenomenal. If there was a Nobel prize for helping people to play sax, this guy should get it. I am a novice (2 months of sax playing). Went from a quivering, poor embouchure to playing properly within minutes. Turned out my embouchure was not that bad at all, it just could not control bad reeds. Buy this and have a gag removed from your mouthpiece!

very easy to use. Its great! The equiptment is very simple. You are paying for the knowledge.

Has ended my struggles with producing a clear sound. Makes playing any strength reed much easier!
