MTL102870 007250 8100 X-cess 5W-40 Synthetic Gasoline and Diesel Engine Oil - 5 Liter Jug

Update:12/30/2022: I bought some more 5w-40 Motul for a 2014 VW EOS. Never buy a VW! Their 2.0TSI engines are GARBAGE! With only 39K miles, and extreme care by the previous owner, this engine drinks oil. Tailpipe is coated inside with lots of carbon and goo. VW Dealership says the engine needs rebuilding ($5500) or replacing because pistons and rings are defective in these POS Engines. Anyway, back to the oil review. During the Trump Era, we were buying this same oil for $34.00 or even less on slae and now the same stuff is $60+. Bought a couple of jugs anyway, as we believe this is good oil. No proof as we haven't sent samples to a Lab to have it analyzed. It really helped my FIAT Abarth as far as oil consumption so trying this on the VW. We don't experience any of the comments like the Engine is quieter or mileage improved. Oil is oil to some degree. I've had lots of vehicles (over 20), tried many brands of synthetic motor oils, and for the most part, oil is oil. I find it odd when someone tells me their engine is smoother or quieter with a certain synthetic brand. I've used only OEM oil in the FIAT, which is Pennzoil 5w-40 Euro. I have always been pleased with Pennzoil. I had to pull the valve cover and the internals of the engine were clean, no varnish or anything. So why did I decide to try Motul? My FIAT burns a ton of oil. I typically burn a quart every 600 - 900 miles! FIAT's require the oil level to be correct as they use an electro-hydraulic unit to operate the intake valves, called the Multiair brick. I check the oil level very frequently. I've researched lots of synthetic oil alternatives for the FIAT and decided to give Motul a try. Currently, the Motul oil is nice and clean at 400 miles of driving, the oil level still reads full. I would have expected to be down maybe a 1/3 of a quart by now. With Motul, the engine sounds the same - no, it's not mechanically quieter and doesn't have more perceived power. But at least for now, this oil is not going out the tail pipe at the rate that Pennzoil did. We shall see how it does after a couple thousand miles. In the meantime, I ordered another 5 liter jug of Motul. Update: 1000 miles and used 1/2 of a quart. Oil still looks clean. Probably will stick with Motul.

This oil is perfect for the 1.6T engine from Hyundai/Kia. I use it in my 2018 Elantra Sport, but this engine is also used in the Veloster Turbo and Kia Forte GT. Ignore the printing on the oil cap that says 5W-30. Read the manual and you will see Hyundai/Kia approves 5W-40. You can even use 20W-50 for this engine if the temperatures in your area don't drop below 20F. Even Hyundai themselves have admitted that the 5W30 oil may not offer the best protection and is only recommended for best fuel economy. This is what Hyundai TSB 16-20-001 says: "Although the Genesis Coupe Turbo, Sonata Turbo, Santa Fe Turbo, Elantra Sport, Tucson Turbo and Veloster Turbo are labelled with 5W30 on the oil cap, HACC recommends use of 5W40 to offer the best engine protection for these vehicles." When you research 5W40 oils in the US, you will find out there are not a whole lot of options. You could use Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40, but it is difficult to find in stores and it only comes in 1 Quart bottles, making it expensive. Castrol Edge 5W-40 is an option, but Castrol oils use a lower grade base oil. This Motul oil is the best 5W-40 oil that money can buy. It is 100% synthetic, not just "full synthetic" (do an Internet search and find out the difference). I also use Motul 100% synthetic oils in my motorcycles, and it's simply the best. I drive over 20,000 miles a year and I keep my vehicles for a long time (over 150,000 miles). If you care about the longevity of your engine, especially a turbocharged one, use this product.

I have a 2011 Audi A4, 2.0 turbocharged 4 cylinder, with more than 25k miles. Some Audi's burn a lot of oil, mine never did, but I did have the oil consumption test performed. I was using the dealer's 5w-40 Castrol (if you are an Audi/VW owner, then you should be aware to use VW/Audi Spec 502.00 oil) and the stage 1 oil consumption test turned out 0.17 quart burned per 1k miles with the Castrol, which is very good and the gauge readout on the console showed "1/3" down from full (the full meter is 1 quart range, so when it's at the bottom of the guage, the engine is a quart low). This test was in the course of 2,200 miles. Now ever since my last oil change with the Motul 5w-40 Xcess, I have put over 3,500 miles on it so far and the gauge has not dropped a single bit. I can say for sure that this Motul is by far a superior oil than the Audi dealer's Castrol 5w-40. I can't say for Mobil-1 0w-40 Euro which I use in my other car, a VW Passat 3.6 VR6 and is also pretty good, but I can say with empiracle evidence, in my experience with the Audi A4 2.0T (B8) , that Motul is far better than the Castrol. I was paying the Audi dealer around $70 for the oil change, which is very reasonable, but I'd rather do it myself now because I prefer to put in Motul. The Motul by the way is VW/Audi spec oil 502.00. I plan to drive to the 10k mile interval and send it in to Blackstone Labs for analysis just for ghits and shiggles.

Started out using Royal Purple 5W-30 for my 2013 Subaru Impreza WRX STi since the Owner's Manual calls for 5W-30. I used Royal Purple for a few months and switched to Shell Rotella T6. Not a big fan of my results from the Royal Purple in terms of consumption, which is why I switched to Rotella T6 due to lower consumption feedback given to me. Overall out of 3 oils, Rotella T6 is outstanding nonetheless for my Subaru STi and the car seemed to really like running T6, but after taking it to a reputable STi Tuner Shop close by, they recommended that I switch to Motul 5W-40. Now that I am on my 2nd oil change with Motul I must say that I am beyond pleased with the results from my last oil change with Motul. Oil consumption has gone down quite significantly and I barely consume any oil whatsoever. The STi seems to like Motul, and not only has the consumption gone down, but the color of the oil takes longer to change to a dirtier and darker color. Needless to say, my STi will have no other oil but Motul for the remanding period of time that I own the vehicle.

Let me first say I am the most anal person I know with cars. I have used all oils on the market (Liqui moly, shell, klotz, mobil 1, Pennzoil, castrol, eneos, etc.) I am using this in my Porsche 911 and BMW X5m I changed the oil at about 1000 miles on the old oil and I will say that immediately noticed a quieter engine and valvetrain in both vehicles. After about 100 miles I noticed both vehicles are having better throttle response also. I really think Motul is the best oil on the market. I will keep using it. I would say Pennzoil is number 2. Have had good results with them. They are owned by Shell and make good oil. But if I had to choose between the 2 I would chose Motul for the performance and protection.

I use this oil on my 2016 BMW 428i. While I can't scientifically tell you how well it works, Motul is consistently rated amongst the best synthetic oils. I love the fact that a single 6 liter jug is exactly the amount of oil my car requires. This makes oil changes much easier. I also like that it has a built-in pouring spout.

I've been using Motul for several years now, after heeding forum/YouTube recommendations. I had been running Mobil1 0w-40 in my W210 E-Class. I switched to 5w-40 Motul to provide a bit more wear protection (and prevent some oil leaks if I'm being honest). The oil change, I ran LiquiMoly Engline Flush, followed up with Motul oil and Ceratec. My motor's been running very smooth and quiet since then. I also haven't seen much oil leaks either after replacing some seals. I want to add too that I ordered this specific product (8100 X-cess Gen 1 four case) from this page, because it was cheaper than the new Gen2 formulation (when buying 4). However, I did receive the new Gen2 product (from Mass Depot) for less than it should've cost individually. Looks like suppliers are shipping out Gen2 as a replacement for the original. Just be aware of that in case you're very particular about what you order.

En mi opinión a la par de Castrol, inclusive mejor, lo compre para un Golf TSI 2016 manual y funciono de maravilla, ademas el empaque viene diseñado para vertir el aceite sin derramar tanto, después de probarlo es la opción económica y efectiva para mi auto, solo lo veo por debajo de LiquiMolly
