The smell is very minimum, subtle and pleasant. Does not smell like previous self tanners including the old jergens that was a gradual tan. I usually take a shower at night and after an hour or so later ,I put on an application with my bare hands. I feel like there is little color immediately and by morning it turns a nice, natural tan. It does not transfer to clothing or sheets. Minimumly sticky and I'm not even sure the right word is sticky but my legs feel like they have on lotion even though it's dry and it's uncomfortable under sheets. So I put baby powder on them and then it's fine and comfortable. The only downside and this is probably only for older women with slightly crepey skin... If I put an application on more than 3 nights in a row, I feel it makes my skin look tan but older. I have figured out, one application is enough for 2 days of good tan. However this Jergens does not patch, it just fades slowly. For me, I wash to body part with light soap and water, then let it dry 20 min, then I apply. This helps for a better penetration. An advanced trick: mix 2 pumps of the self-tanning with a pump a regular hand lotion.. This gives ideal penetration and last longer 4-5 days **Q: What is the difference between Bronzer and tanner?** A: Although both are temorary, a self tanner lasts for several days to a week, where as a bronzer is something that only lasts a day or two. **Q: How long after I apply should I wait to shower?** A: People aren’t understanding this question correctly lol but to help, I put it on after I exfoliate in the shower and lotion the tough areas (knees, wrists, elbows, ankles) and then dry completely. I sleep with it on and rinse in the morning. I would say at a minimum I’d wait 6 hours before showering. Ideally, closer to the 10-12 if you can. **Q: Does the "Dark" shade make you orange?** A: No does not make you orange. To me it looks like a natural looking tan.
