Took a gamble but this appears to play easier than the student piece that came with my horn. I practiced so long the first day I got embrochure fatigue. This is an awesome mouthpiece, didnt even have to buy another reed, standard Rico works great. It fit snuggly on the neck of my horn and making adjustments were easy. It gave my horn a nice crisp sound and far greater projection than the selmer mouthpiece I was using. The intonation was still great and I was able to hit all of the notes with ease at all volumes once I got use to it which took about 30 minutes. I think a beginner could even use this provided they have a good teacher and soft reeds.For the money, it's a great value. It appears to be heavy and solidly built. The ligature is another matter however. While it works, it's made of a cheap plastic that mimics the looks of leather that most likely won't last very long. The mouthpiece is slim so the standard ligature will be too big for it. You'll need to shop around to find a quality ligature to fit it at some point. It lost one star for that.
