These are a great value and I must have in the shop. I can’t imagine using the crimp style anymore. Now that these are available they’re easy to use and seem to be pretty good quality. Definitely a time saver when doing wiring.

I have yet to actually implement them, i am using them for truck wiring. But I did go outside and melt one with a lighter. I think you might want to be a little bit gentle when heating and heat gradually. I managed to have the solder melt and the exterior shrink without leaving holes. Good for connecting wires together. Saves time with soldering. Perfect if you want to wire up a boat due to the waterproofness of it.

Works, easy to use.

I got tired of the old plastic crimp connectors so I wanted to try this style. However, working on tight quarters where you don't have full access to the wires you are trying to connect to introduces limitations, because a wire stripper is needed and you have to have some wire length available to strip the wire well. In any case, you can loop the connector through to at least one side of the wiring, connect the wire leads, then move the connectors over the wire junction in the right location. With a heat gun, I tried to avoid over-heating but it's hard to get the solder portion to melt without melting the plastic first. Keep in mind there is residual heat being absorbed into the wire. I might try using flux and pre-tinning next time. The diameter of the connector was the perfect size and thickness for the specified wire gauge. The glue and heat shrink portion definitely helps make a nice water seal compared to any other methods. The electrical connection is working, but I will have to keep an eye on it because I just don't think the solder melted necessary. It's supposed to be between 280 and 320 deg F, so the 400 deg F setting on the heat gun should be fine, but it didn't feel like it. When I upped the temperature, the plastics were in meltdown mode. I haven't seen any videos that show exactly how to apply the heat for how long and what temperature.

This is a great idea and product. I ordered these to use on the electrical wiring on my trailer. They work a lot better than the crimping ones. The wire has a solid weld and you don’t have to worry about it pulling apart. I will definitely order again.

Works like magic! Great way to join wires for a positive connection. Waterproof after you heat the connection. A better alternative to butt connectors

Product is exceptional at connecting 2 wires and shrimp wrapping the ends as it advertises. It is even good at soldering an end onto a wire while it shrinks over the connector end by cutting one side or the shrink wrap back part way. However there are no instructions so you have to guesstimate how long to heat the connector with the heat gun while turning to heat all sides evenly. It isn't that hard since the shrink covering is clear and you can see the solder melt. Not only that but the solder seems to melt when the shrink wrap is finished shrinking so so connection and seal finish around the same time. After completion let it sit and cool a few seconds before moving or pulling the wires to allow perfect connection. The locking clips on the box are the usual cheap quality you get on a typical shrink wrap plastic box that won't last very long so close carefully. The larger quantities of this product appear to also have a better sealing box. I have been a mechanic for nearly 50 years and this is as critical as I could make the review. The main thing is this is clearly a great 5 star product for connecting wires.

These are the best of the SolderSeal type connectors that I have found. I tested them on #18awg wire and heated the joint on low heat with a dual heat 1500w heat gun. I pretinned each wire first and inserted both into the connector. When heated the solder melted and mixed with the pretinned wires. The joint coverage of the solder looks to be about 9% which is good for these connectors. I then did a resistance test of the joint. With a current of 1 amps and measured the voltage drop at 0.869mV or 869uV. This give a resistance of 869uohms which is very good. I don't use these every where but when I need to they will work fine. I would definitely buy these again.
