This kit works great! It is so easy and fun to use! Besides getting your own ingredients, the kit comes with everything you need including beeswax, lotion molds, lip balm containers, gift bags, and instructions on how to make everything. I have a few tips for this product though.1. It takes a little longer to heat up the wax than it says.I had to put it in the microwave 2 separate times for 1 minute for it to melt.So if you want it to melt with out having to go back to the microwave multiple times heat it up for 1 minute and 30 seconds or 2 minutes depending on your microwave.2.The lotion bar recipe and the lip balm recipe dry up really quickly(as in they turn into wax)especially the lotion bar recipe. I lost a whole lotion bar because of this. If you want to be safe, put in a little more wax and oil into the mix.3.Make sure you turn your lip balm right side up right after you put the mold on so the lip balm will be inserted into the mode. This will keep the lip balm more sturdy while in the container.4. While taking a lip balm out of the mold, make sure you are pressing lightly on the lip balm so them it will not be pulled out. This kit is clear that it asks you to use some basic supplies from around your kitchen. I don't like some of the artificial scents included in other similar kits, so to me it isn't a downside that they ask you to use your own ingredients. My favorite combo is olive oil, honey, and vanilla extract. My daughter liked using peppermint extract. It was a fun kit with easy to follow instructions that inspired a lot of experimentation and kept an 8 year old focused for a couple of hours. One downside to note is that it did require adult supervision between heating the ingredients to melt them and cleaning up the mess afterward. But for me and daughter, it was bonding activity that we both enjoyed very much.

Bought this as a gift for my 7 year old neice. overall was a great gift, the product Comes with multiple lip balm holders and lotion molds. We used it that day and had another 5 yr old and 10 yr old participating in making them. We used it all together as a group, children under 10 May need to be helped by an adult to follow instructions. We used natural oils we had in the house as suggested on the instructions. Overall good product, great to be done with a small group.

My daughter and I love this! It is all about "lip-balm science." It comes with the basic things you need to make lip balm and lotion bars. You have to add the vegetable oil (or whatever other oil you want, like avocado oil or olive oil) and you have to get creative to "flavor" the lip balms. We used a small piece of milk chocolate and it melted right away. She made chocolate lip balm and loves it! See attached picture. This is an EXCELLENT buy for the price! TIPS: -Glass worked well for melting, but it took an entire minute (not 30 seconds) to melt the oil and beeswax. -You have to add "flavors" to the melted wax and oil that will melt. Otherwise, you will feel whatever you put in there that doesn't melt, like sugar crystals or glitter, for example. Either way, you can make any type of balm, so if you don't mind the item not melting, then add away. -The instructions give you tips on how to "flavor" the lip balm, like add honey and olive oil or a little bit of lipstick to color the balm. -You can make only one at a time. You get 1 silicone mold, so you have to wait until that one lip balm is set to make a new lip balm.

This product LOOKS good. You have to read closely and infer that not all supplies are included. The directions were a little confusing for my students to do independently. Also—most importantly—even though it’s advertised as “whip up” flavors, you have to provide the flavoring. I ordered three different sets of lip balm makers for my kids to try in small groups. Save yourself the money and go look at comparable products. Some of those are significantly better and easier.

Got this item for a craft for the grands. I was delightfully surprised that three boys wanted to make these also, with my grandgirls. When we opened it because of the reviews I had read ahead of time, we had coconut oil on hand and chocolate chips and other essential oils. Hands down we like the coconut oil far better than other oils! The set up time was only about five minutes in the fridge. We used a glass on cup measure cup, which works the best. We did this with eight kids and I would of got a second kit if I knew that many wanted to do it and this one is a big win in the kid's likeness factor. The caught on quickly that all you have to do is fill the silicone pod with a big of a dome, then put one half of the pod on put it in the freezer and then screw on the cap, really that's how simple it is. Big take away~ have coconut oil on hand, and buy some essential oils in banana, strawberry, etc. The directions are on the page with many suggestions for add ons, so to make it a more rewarding experience get those items beforehand to add to the enjoyment of making the lip balms.

I bought this (and about 60 other "like" items) to hand out to kids at a company Christmas party. You should have seen the excitement when they picked these out. I don't know whether or not they worked, easy or hard, messy or not... but I can tell you it got children excited in a project. I intentionally purchased items that would be fun to do as a family. I would definitely recommend again.
