They are not too hot and still wick moisture away. This is the primary reason I gave them a shot - not too much wool to be hot but enough wool and other fabrics to wick moisture. They are also thick and comfy. However - the bad, they are really over sized for my 9 1/2 foot. the arch band is too far forward on the foot and not very snug...virtually pointless They are also itchy. this is not due to the wool, I have plenty of wool socks from Cabela's and Merrell, so I'm not sure what it is. I'll give them a wash and see if they shrink up.
