One reviewer recommended applying chapstick to the threads and that solved the issue. With this one the threads are much quiter and the gasket makes a nice water tight seal. I really appreciate the larger volume and allows me to carry my days worth of water with me. It is pure copper but has a clear coating on the outside only. This helps keep the maintenance low. The outside stays bright and with the air tight seal the inside when filled with water does not oxidize that quickly. That being said it is pure copper and will discolor inside. This is necessary to get the benefits of a copper water bottle. It is really easy to clean with lemon juice, salt, and a paper towel and shake it around for a min or so. The water does have a slight metallic taste to it but again this is letting you know you are getting the benefits of the copper. I do like it very much and would buy it again.
