Will this generator run a 3 ton air conditioning unit?

If you are referring to central air. Most likely not. Motorized loads have a much higher starting current demand than the normal running current/wattage. That is the way it is with motor starting loads to operate. The largest size Duramax in sold here on Amazon, have a 50 amp 220 volt outlet. That is likely what you need. Trying to start a central AC with too small output may damage your AC unit, usually the starting capacitor blows. Probably kill the generator engine too and or pop breaker on the generator. Also running on propane will reduce peak output of the generator as well. Gasoline has higher btu heat energy than propane. However propane is a much cleaner fuel and will extend engine life several times over. You still need to change oil as recommended, even though oil will look very clean when operating on propane. All generators adjust to load but I think you are referring to the inverter generator which will adjust RPM according to load. This model is not an inverter and will simply try to maintain constant RPM with added load.
