Review: Dog is bored - My dog has no interest in this thing what so ever. She gets bored even with turkey enticing her and she abandoned pursuit. Waste of cash.

Nice item
To disclose from go, this item was supplied as a sample at either a reduced cost or for free. If this presents and issue in ANY way, please skip the review. NOTE: These are WOOD and they are lightly finished. This makes them a safe product with animals. I note that because this is always a HUGE consideration for me, and I felt I would throw that out front. Within our household, we have a few pets. Of those, the cats are the hardest to keep interest, so we oftentimes resort to toys. Now, we had tried many different items to varied levels of effect, from remote controlled mice to lights and bells, but we had never tried something like this. Interestingly, it is a good design and it looks good within whatever environment you add it to. Surprisingly, it works, and it keeps the cats entertained. The dogs like this a lot as well, and they normally enjoy puzzles or items as long as their is a prize present. As I will mention later in the review, this is good for an animal like a dog if you are going to introduce it to more complex tasks later on, or if you want to simply give them a toy to play/ interact with in the immediate. So, what you have here is essential a wooden implement with two things an animal can do. On one side, you have two balls situated in a maze of sorts, allowing a pet to push this back and forth. Add a little catnip to that and a cat will have fun with it, and a dog will place with it if you point it out to them. On the other side, you have a piece that turns, revealing a compartment interior, along with venting to allow scents to exit. This turns easily and well, so you have a bit of a challenge for your animal, BUT they can still access it. The wood on this makes it safe to use and the design allows it to be resistant to claws, teeth, and more, plus it cleans easily. Now, the cleaning does get harder sometimes for the ball maze side of this if something falls into it, but even then it is not too terribly difficult. Now, I did add a tiny rubbing of catnip to the initial use because I added this to the upper portions, but the lower areas never had any problem attracting the pet. Basically, what you have is something that a pet is going to have to figure out how to access, and when they do, they are rewarded. This works on that Classical Conditioning model, and it is a good way to train a pet when it comes to the introduction of more complex items. I say that having trained dogs for drug detection some years back, and seeing how they need to problem solve. This is nowhere near the level of skill use that detection had, but it does allow a stepping stone approach. Something else I like with it is that my 2 1/2 year old daughter can interact with our pets, and she gets to practice situating the item. This allows her to practice some skills, plus she can interact with her animals as well.

It is difficult to turn the wheel even for a human with hands and fingers. Sorry, but not worth the price.

Good quality, too easy
Good quality product. I have a Maine Coon and the cat side was too small for his paws. The dog side was better, but very easy for him. The difficulty can not be increased so it was only good for a day or so before he got bored.

Thanks. My puppy loves this. He's still figuring it out. He gets the treats by trial and error, I am not sure if he really understands tje concept of rotating the surface. However, he's slowly getting it. This should keep him occupied for a while.
