A good set
UPDATE: This trap has been an essential part of my pest control regimen. I only use it for armadillos. I catch them in a scented wooden trap, then put this wire trap right in front of the wooden trap door. Open the doors, poke something into the wooden trap a few times, and the animal runs right into this trap. Even if the pressure plate fails or gets unhooked, poke at the latch and the door will spring closed. I have yet to lose a trapped animal or have one escape. I do recommend putting boards around and over the connection between the 2 traps, so the animal sees no way out except forward. Obviously, even my reinforced trap probably wouldn't stand up to a mature armadillo forever. But it doesn't have to. Stand the trap up on one end, and the armadillo will barely be able to move. Then it's a sitting duck - you can relocate or dispatch it. Make your choice about that beforehand, so you have the right tool or vehicle ready. If relocating, don't put the trap right on the seat of your vehicle - their claws will get to it. Put something sturdy underneath the trap while transporting. So that's how I deal with armadillos. I leave possums alone - I have no chickens, and possums eat rats, mice, ticks, carrion, and other unclean things. Raccoons do also have some scavenging tendencies and their presence also helps deter rodents. Both will hunt smaller snakes. Possums and armadillos shouldn't be caught unless it's really necessary. Just get an animal-proof trash can, or if they're breaking into a deer feeder or composter, try to mod the design instead. As for feral cats, if you're gonna catch them, try to get a voucher to have them FIXED! *** ORIGINAL REVIEW This set is a really good value. The trap is quality and has stood up to months of use - still no rust on it. It's portable and easy to carry. I reinforced it with zip ties, so it won't fold down easily anymore, but it can also stand up to armadillo claws. They can't escape from it. This trap is also easily cleaned with a garden hose and high-pressure nozzle. The included gloves are also fantastic and well appreciated! They're some of the best gloves I've ever owned and I use them for handling everything from sharp metal to broken glass. This trap is effective, easy to tune/modify to your desired sensitivity, and can be integrated easily into fence lines, house borders, etc. It is a bit of a pain to open the rear door to release non-target animals. I'm still trying to think of a good mod for this. The present design puts your hand at risk of a bite or scratch, so you'll definitely want to use the gloves, and practice using this mechanism with the gloves on. Overall, these items have been a useful and well-valued part of my pest control methods and the gloves have helped with a ton of different jobs!

Trap small/medium pests. Not so Sturdy
These traps will work well enough for a medium sized animal such as an Armadillo. I caught a relatively big one in it. Maybe 20 lbs. or so. The rear door is good for letting the animal out of the trap without getting your fingers in there, but it is a bit awkward. It would be good if they provided a more convenient latch on it. The trap works, but it isn't the sturdiest. The trigger plate inside the trap bent and it was difficult to get it working correctly again. Remember not to allow the floor plate trigger to fall in the opposite direction when you are unloading the trap with a heavy animal in it. The gloves are a nice addition, and I suspected they would be cheap. But I was pleasantly surprised at their quality. Remember to use the gloves when working with the cage with an animal in it. I don't think being scratched by a wild animal would be a good thing. The armadillo was able to destroy the lawn underneath the trap by sticking his claws out of the holes in the bottom. It might be a good idea to protect the lawn by placing something over it first before placing the trap. Just a thought.

It works! The build quality isn't the best, however.
In terms of value for money this exceeds expectations, but when it arrived the hook would not hold the trap open. Luckily I had a small round file to put a shallow notch in the hook so it would stay open. It worked twice in the first week, but that raccoon really put up a fight. I read some earlier reviews and decided to add some zip ties as reinforcement, and without them I think he might have gotten out. Even so, he really bent up the rod connecting the trigger plate to the hook as well as the rod holding shut the back door. Including the gloves was a nice touch, they offer surprisingly robust protection

Very effective
1 hour after receiving it and I caught it. The gloves are a very good add on. They are cute but they can get aggressive.

Came in pieces.
When I slid it out of the undamaged box 3 of the clips holding parts on were off and door was completely off the cage. I am having to put it back together by pulling up videos. I bought this because of the reviews and ease of use but after spending over 1.25 hours on putting it back together and having more time to put it together, it was a great disappointment. If I didn't need to get this out in the yard to get rid of the bunny in the back yard so the dogs won't kill it, I would have sent it back. HUGE disappointment.

Far better than I expected! Worth it
Far more than what I expected. I’ve been trying to help with a cat issue in the area and our humane society will only lend me 2 traps.. I needed a 3 so of course I ran to amazon to see what I could get that was affordable yet sturdy and great for the value. Right out the box it was easy to unpack. For the most part all you had to do with pull the handle up and start clipping it in place 2 major part to put together… that’s it.. everything is is there and easy to put together… Safety mechanism is great on it locks great. Appearance is as good as the ones the human society lends out… If you’re on a tight budget or need something quick I highly recommend this especially for the price. Again super easy to put together. Didn’t really need instructions. I watched a YouTube video and was able to do it quicker. Ohhh also I have to mention. The gloves it comes with are absolutely perfect and amazing for the job. You can’t go wrong especially because of the added bonus of the gloves.

I had problems putting it together.
Overall, it seems to be good for what my intended purpose. The only problem I had is figuring out the front door attachment. It was completely separated from the rest of the trap on arrival. I found videos online that showed how its supposed to be. There were other metal clips that hold the trap together which were barely on at all when I got it. Its a good idea to check them and make sure they are closed tight before using the trap. If you don't, the whole thing will come apart with very little pressure. It's easy to set and easy to open and close. I'm happy with it, and it did come with the pictures gloves.

Works sometimes, but can be spoofed by experienced cats.
I've used a variety of traps from different companies and while this isn't the worst trap I've ever seen it's got some flaws. A large or long necked cat can reach the bait at the back of the trap without setting it off. This is not the only trap I've ever seen this happen with but it's annoyingly frustrating all the same. I've had to set it up as a manually activated drop and wait for one animal that was consistently robbing food out of the trap without setting it off. Once I did that it worked fine but it's much better to set it and walk away and come back to a full trap rather than missing bait. Construction is not the sturdiest. I'd advise you pick something stronger if you want to catch racoons. It works OK for cats and possums though. I did end up having to permanently seal the back door of the trap which is a bummer because it makes baiting a lot harder. It's also annoying that the arm to operate the drop is INSIDE the cage and a frustrated animal trapped inside can knock it loose. The gloves that came with it are decent enough and will keep you from getting scratched but be warned that cats and racoons can bite through almost any leather glove if they want to. For the money it's good enough but I wish I could have bought something a little nicer.
