Do you need to shut off the propane tank between uses? If i don't on mine, it leaks out all the propane.

Sounds like shut propane shut off valve needs replacing. When your finished using hot water usually around 17 minutes of hot water it usually shuts off and you have you have to turn water off then back on for another 17 minutes When the unit resets at 17 minutes or manually is turned off the propane is turned off by main propane valve if it keeps leaking propane , needs to be inspected or replaced
